Duties and Responsibilities Co-ordinate and manage the legal process with regard to the enforcement of the MIBCO Collective Agreements in the region. Manage claims instituted against an establishment as a result of legal action. Prepare case files for hearings, attend conciliation and arbitration hearings and present MIBCO’s case to ensure that the collective agreement is maintained. Manage quality control of legal activities in a region. Liaise and communicate with external legal service providers. Assist with any other function as per Manager’s instruction. File Variation Applications where Commissioners’ errors occur on Arbitration Awards. Interpretation of Awards. Oppose Rescission Applications and file notices with the DRC. Verify and withdraw finalized cases in the legal process. Refer unpaid Settlement Agreements as per Section 142 process / negotiate and finalize administrative matters. Compile and draft heads of arguments and applications. Compile legal recommendations for Regional Council Board meetings. Knowledge / Experience / Skills / Abilities Ability to interpret and apply / enforce the MIBCO agreements. Above average verbal and written communication and listening skills. Ability to build strong, effective relationships with all stakeholders, i.e. existing clients and potential clients as well as internal stakeholders, i.e. colleagues and management. Good decision-making and problem-solving skills. Good analytical skills with attention to detail. Strong negotiation and report-writing skills.
