We deliver high-quality TELECOMS (fibre optic infrastructure projects) and are looking for experienced, reliable technicians to join our growing project team on a contract basis. Role Overview We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Optical Fibre Technician to support the installation, splicing, testing, and maintenance of fibre optic networks across various project sites in Gauteng and Northern Regions. This is a contract/project-based role suited to a self-motivated individual with solid hands‑on experience in fibre infrastructure. Responsibilities Installation and termination of single-mode and multi-mode fibre optic cables Fusion splicing and mechanical splicing of fibre optic cables OTDR testing, troubleshooting, and fault‑finding on fibre networks Installation of fibre distribution frames (FDFs), patch panels, and enclosures Conducting site surveys and providing technical assessments Accurate completion of as‑built documentation and test reports Adherence to health and safety regulations on all project sites Liaising with project managers, clients, and site supervisors Requirements 2–5 years of hands‑on experience as an Optical Fibre Technician Proficiency in fusion splicing using industry‑standard equipment Strong knowledge of OTDR testing and fibre fault diagnosis Experience with both aerial and underground fibre installations (FTTH and FTTB) Ability to read and interpret fibre network drawings and schematics Valid South African driver’s license (Code 8 or higher) — essential Willingness to travel to various project sites across Gauteng and Northern Regions Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Advantageous Relevant trade certification (FOA) or qualification in telecommunications / fibre optics 5 yrs Experience working with ISPs or telecoms infrastructure contractors 5yrs Familiarity with OSP (outside plant) and ISP (inside plant) fibre environments Remuneration Remuneration is market related and negotiable based on experience and project scope.
