Safari JOBS is recruiting for an Assistant Lodge Manager opportunity at a 5* luxury hospitality property in the Western Cape coastal region. The Assistant Lodge Manager supports the General Manager and Lodge Managers in overseeing daily operations across the lodges and ensuring smooth, efficient service for all departments. The primary focus is delivering an exceptional guest experience, providing personalized, attentive service that exceeds expectations and reflects the property's luxury standards. This role suits a confident, service‑oriented hospitality professional who thrives in a hands‑on leadership support position and values excellence, professionalism, and thoughtful attention to detail throughout the guest experience. It offers a more balanced lifestyle than a traditional remote‑based role; onsite accommodation is available as a temporary base until permanent private accommodation is secured, and many staff members later move into off‑site accommodation in nearby villages or towns. Responsibilities Ensure exceptional guest service and satisfaction at all times: personally welcome arriving guests, engage with guests daily, fulfill guest requests and special arrangements efficiently, manage feedback and resolve complaints promptly, and build strong relationships to encourage repeat visits. Oversee daily lodge operations to ensure seamless service delivery, coordinating activities between housekeeping, maintenance, food & beverage, and guiding teams, while ensuring guest areas and public spaces meet 5‑star standards. Provide mentorship and guidance to front‑of‑house staff: conduct performance reviews, ongoing training, and foster a professional, respectful, and motivated environment. Support HR processes, including staff development, discipline, and workforce planning. Maintain consistent service standards during breakfast, lunch, and dinner: monitor food quality, presentation, and dietary requirements; conduct daily briefings and debriefings. Conduct daily lodge inspections to maintain luxury standards, implement and maintain SOPs, and support sustainability and eco‑friendly practices. Contribute to continuous improvement of lodge operations: implement innovative ideas to enhance guest experiences and support long‑term operational goals and service excellence initiatives. Qualifications Clear criminal record. Excellent employment track record; references will be verified. Excellent English fluency and literacy. Computer literate. 2–5 years of relevant supervisory/management experience in high‑end 4‑ or 5‑star lodges, camps, or hotels. Food and beverage understanding and experience. Excellent attention to detail. Expat candidates with existing South African residency or valid work authorisation are welcome to apply. Benefits Gross salary of R22000–R27000 per month, negotiable based on experience. All staff share in a central tip fund, distributed monthly. Provident fund package: 10% of gross salary (50/50 contribution) toward group life insurance, income disability, funeral benefit, retirements savings, and relevant consulting/admin fees. Medical: partial company contribution of R250 per month to a medical aid of the staff member’s choice. Uniform provided. Discretionary bonus (generally in November and March). Workoff cycle: 8 days off per month (split accordingly) plus 15 annual leave days. Working hours: early shift 06:30–16:30; late shift 12:00–22:00 (hours may vary). Off‑shifts may be adjusted to operational needs. Onsite accommodation available at approx R3500–R4500 per month, including utilities and Wi‑Fi. Accommodation used as temporary base until private accommodation is secured; many staff move into off‑site accommodation, with shared transport arrangements common. Meals are not included. To apply, submit a recent CV and copies of any relevant certificates, plus contactable references. Written reference letters will be considered. Interviews will be conducted with shortlisted candidates only. Safari JOBS values every application.
