The Department of Infrastructure & Engineering seeks to employ a skilled, knowledgeable and resourceful individual to coordinate services on a diverse range of construction projects. The position will suit someone with strong planning and monitoring skills, who is energetic and pro‑active, and who has a construction projects background. This post reports to the Manager Projects. Key Responsibilities Provide day‑to‑day coordination and administrative support to the Project Manager and project team Act as a coordination link between internal departments, consultants, contractors and service providers Schedule and attend site visits, meetings and inspections with relevant stakeholders Follow up on deliverables, submissions and outstanding actions from service providers Assist with purchase requisitions, quotations, procurement documentation and service requests in line with university procedures Assist with quality inspections, snag lists and follow‑up of corrective actions Monitor and track project progress against plan (Time, Cost, Scope and Quality) and implement corrections as necessary Support compliance with health, safety, environmental and building regulations by coordinating required documentation and submissions Ensure an orderly and comprehensive project close‑out process Monitor project quality and resolve non‑conformance items Monitor service deliverables and sign off on receipt Facilitate building and campus access Monitor and report on project risks Plan, coordinate and integrate the activities of internal resources Compile and distribute meeting minutes and regular project progress reports Maintain accurate project records, filing systems and documents Arrange and administer all professional services (internal and external) Draft communications and notices for publication Minimum Requirements B Tech/3‑year degree (NQF 7 or equivalent) in a Built Environment (e.g., architecture, quantity surveying, construction management, etc.) 2–5 years’ relevant experience in the Construction or Building industry Valid driver’s licence (with 2 years of driving experience) Knowledge, Skills and Capabilities Proven track record on small to medium scale construction projects Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office and construction and project management software Good planning and organisational skills Good knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental regulations Good knowledge of building regulations and standards (ISO Standards) Strong communication skills (verbal & written) Ability to work under pressure with adherence to deadlines Knowledge of JBCC or other forms of construction contracts Added Advantage Knowledge of the functioning of the Higher Education sector would be advantageous Knowledge of PROCSA contracts Professional registration with the SACPCMP as a candidate or professional construction project manager Disclaimer By applying for the position, you consent to the University sharing your application, including curriculum vitae, with University stakeholders to process the application.
