We are seeking an experienced Mechanical / Paint Supervisor with petrochemical experience to supervise mechanical and painting activities on tank refurbishment and fabrication projects. You will ensure work is executed safely, to quality standards, and on schedule. This role is hands‑on, involves supervising teams, and requires coordination with construction, engineering, and quality control teams. Location: Cape Town Start Date: Immediate Employment Type: Fixed Term Contract Department: Projects Reports To: Construction Manager Key Responsibilities Supervise mechanical and painting work on petrochemical projects, including tank refurbishment, repair, fabrication, and installation. Ensure compliance with ISO standards, project QCPs, and site HSE requirements. Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project schedules. Assign tasks to team members and monitor quality and progress. Conduct inspections and report deviations, non‑conformances, and corrective actions. Coordinate with project management, engineering, QA/QC, and HSE teams. Ensure safe work practices, PPE use, and adherence to permit‑to‑work systems. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Quality: Accuracy of fabricated structures and painting work; minimal defects or rework. Schedule: Completion of tasks on time and according to project milestones. Safety: Compliance with HSE procedures, zero incidents, proactive hazard reporting. Productivity: Efficient use of time, resources, and materials. Communication: Timely and clear reporting of progress, risks, and non‑conformances. Requirements Qualifications & Certifications QCTO or Red Seal qualification in boilermaking, welding, pipefitting, or industrial spray painting. On‑the‑job certifications: Risk Assessment, Incident Investigation, First Aid, Firefighting, Permit‑to‑Work systems. Training in: Working at Heights, Confined Space Entry. Knowledge of ISO9001, ISO45001, ISO14001 (advantageous). Valid driver's license. Experience Functional: Minimum 5 years as a Boilermaker or Spray Painter in industrial/petrochemical environments. Supervisory: At least 3 years in a chargehand or supervisory role. Experience with tank refurbishment, piping installation, and structural fabrication. Prior petrochemical or fuel terminal experience preferred. Skills & Competencies Strong team leadership and supervision. Ability to read technical drawings and project schedules. Planning, prioritisation, and decision‑making. Excellent communication and conflict management. Proficiency in MS Office, Google Suite, and SHEQ reporting.
