Overview Medipost has a Picker position to ensure that the totes that have been processed by workflow have been picked according to priority, date and colour. Daily stats Daily requirement of a picker’s stats minimum of 1450 items. Pickers need to achieve the above mentioned daily targets each day. Daily errors in picking Limiting picking errors to below 1.5% of your totes picked per month to avoid unnecessary time wasted to fix the miss picks. Double totes found in one picking box. Paying attention to detail The picker to ensure that the medication is picked according to the tote, this includes correct items, strength and quantity needed. Focus is crucial to ensure all information corresponds with the tote, if all is correct the parcels need to be put on the appropriate shelf. Ensure that you pick according to priority, or as instruction was given. Order of boxes that need to get packed onto the shelf SLA gets packed first onto the shelf. Followed by the back dates next to the SLA. Lastly the new date gets packed next to the back dates. Fridge will always be packed on the first shelf as fridge needs to be prioritized in order for cold chain to be maintained. Pickers need to adhere to the SLA each day. When there are no totes When the pickers have picked the daily amount put on the shelf from workflow then workflow will confirm no more totes will get packed. The pickers will then be sent to help out at other departments and only allocated personnel will stay behind to pick SLA live claims. Scanning process of totes A picker may take a maximum of one line of boxes and then pick it and only after picking it will may it be scanned. The picker will be required to finish picking the scanned totes before fetching or scanning more boxes. Under no circumstances may a picker scan the totes before picking them. If a tote is invalid, the picker will take the tote out of the box and throw the stock into the designated bin for stock sorting to collect, Thereafter the invalid tote needs to be placed into a dedicated box for invalid totes to be shredded at the end of each month and the empty box need to be returned to workflow. The picker may not scan work and then leave the work and go out of the building. The picker must ensure that they have not left any boxes behind and what they have scanned have been completed. Stock challenges whilst picking Pickers may find empty bins whilst they are busy picking. If a picker finds an empty bin, they need to circle the bin number on the tote and then put the parcel on the allocated To-Follow shelf. Most of the medication has alternative bin numbers. The picker must ensure that they have checked every bin number listed on the tote for the specific item before placing it on the To-Follow shelf. Integration with Fine-Pick If a parcel needs to be fine-picked it will be indicated on the top of the tote with a separate heading. Once the picker has completed the full pick on the tote and all the items are picked, they would then put the picked box on the designated fine-pick shelf. If there is any medication on the tote without a bin number the picker would circle the item on the tote and write FP (Fine-Pick) and then the picker would place it on the designated Fine-Pick shelf. If the tote needs to go to Fine-Pick and there is an item that is missing from the full pick the picker will Circle the Fine-Pick item and write FP, and then they would also circle the bin number of the item missing, and then it would first go onto the To-Follow shelf. Once the stock has been put into the box the person in charge of the To-Follow shelf will be responsible to put the box on the Fine-Pick shelf. Steel cupboard There are certain totes with the words VUSI CUPB on them. The picker needs to pick all the items and then the box should be placed on top of the cupboard. If there are any Fine-Pick items, the picker would pick the full pick items and place it on top of the cupboard. The key is available at workflow, only allocated personnel are allowed to access the cupboard. If there are any To-Follow items on the tote, the box would first get put onto the To-Follow shelf. There should be no boxes on the floor. If there is an invalid tote then the picker should put the tote in the appropriate box and return the empty box to workflow. No totes should be left by the computers. There are allocated personnel who do housekeeping on a daily basis. No medicine should be left on the floor.
