AltGen is looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer to join a renewable energy IPP based in Cape Town. The role will oversee the financial strategy, planning, analysis and reporting, as well as manage the finance and accounting teams as well as any external service providers. The CFO will provide leadership in all financial matters, help guide strategic decision‑making, and ensure compliance with financial and tax regulations. The role requires an individual with experience in cross‑border transactions across African countries. Responsibilities Financial Strategy Develop and implement financial strategies to support the company’s goals and objectives. Manage the budgeting process at company and group level and ensure alignment with company objectives. Forecast financial performance and advise on long, medium and short‑term financial planning. Identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth. Oversee the preparation of company and group consolidated financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Monitor and report on the performance of operational assets in the group with focus on profitability and cash flow KPI’s. Ensure that all financial reports are accurate, timely, and in compliance with accounting standards and regulations. Present financial performance, forecasts and budgets to the Board of Directors and other key stakeholders/committees. Risk Management and Compliance Implement and maintain risk management strategies to mitigate financial risks. Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and corporate governance standards. Work closely with internal and external auditors to conduct audits and address findings. Oversee systems and internal controls and standards used by the Company. Cash Flow and Treasury Management Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to ensure the company’s financial stability. Oversee the management of corporate banking and lender relationships. Drive revenue collection derived from in‑country electricity sales. Oversee currency and forex management practices and compliance. Leadership and Team Management Lead, mentor, and manage the finance and accounting teams to ensure high performance and professional development. Collaborate with other executives and divisional and department heads to support cross functional decision‑making. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and financial accountability and discipline within the organization. Strategic Decision and Support Implement business strategies, structures and business models that align with approved short‑ and long‑term objectives. Support on an ongoing basis the development and implementation of any corporate measures that would increase efficiencies, as directed by the CEO and the Board of the company from time to time. Analyse internal operations and identify areas for process enhancement. Monitor and report on the performance of operational assets in the group with focus on profitability, capital adequacy and return on investment KPI’s. Identify and manage risks to the business. Actively contribute to a system and culture of appropriate corporate governance and compliance. Enforce adherence to legal guidelines and in‑house policies to maintain the company’s legality and business ethics. Provide financial insights and recommendations to support executive decision‑making on investments, acquisitions, and business expansion. Support on financial modeling and analysis to evaluate potential projects. Participate in fundraising activities, including debt and equity financing.
