Introduction An established renewable energy business is looking for a Battery Storage Field Technician to join its engineering and operations team. This role is ideal for a qualified electrician or technician with strong experience in solar PV operations, BESS maintenance, plant monitoring, fault finding, and technical reporting. You will be responsible for supporting the performance, reliability, and uptime of operational solar PV and battery storage assets. The role combines remote plant monitoring, technical troubleshooting, preventative and corrective maintenance, data analysis, and stakeholder support. This is a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys working across both the technical and operational sides of renewable energy assets and wants to grow further in the solar PV and energy storage space. Duties & Responsibilities Plant Monitoring & Performance Monitor solar PV and BESS plant performance using remote monitoring systems. Identify alarms, performance deviations, faults, and abnormal system behaviour. Support corrective actions to improve plant uptime and energy production. Track plant performance trends and escalate technical concerns where required. Maintenance & Technical Support Perform and coordinate preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance on solar PV and BESS systems. Conduct fault finding on AC and DC electrical systems. Carry out repairs where possible and escape complex faults to engineering or OEM support. Support routine inspections, testing, and commissioning activities. Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with site procedures. Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis Diagnose technical faults across solar PV, electrical, and battery storage systems. Support root cause investigations on plant failures or underperformance. Recommend preventative measures to reduce repeat failures. Assist with technical investigations relating to equipment performance, downtime, or system reliability. Data Analysis & Reporting Export and analyse operational data from monitoring and SCADA platforms. Compile technical reports on plant performance, incidents, faults, and maintenance activities. Use performance data to support system optimisation and maintenance planning. Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, inspections, and corrective actions. Operational Coordination Prioritise maintenance activities and respond to faults in a timely manner. Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, OEMs, and suppliers. Support planning and task allocation for maintenance activities. Ensure maintenance work is completed according to quality, safety, and operational standards. Stakeholder & Client Support Provide technical support to internal teams, clients, contractors, and project stakeholders. Assist with client queries relating to plant performance, faults, and maintenance activities. Maintain professional communication with all stakeholders. Support a high standard of service delivery across operational renewable energy assets. Desired Experience & Qualification Minimum Requirements Valid electrical trade qualification. Valid driver’s licence. Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as an Electrician, Technician, or Field Technician within the solar PV, renewable energy, or electrical O&M environment. Working knowledge of Solar PV systems and Battery Energy Storage Systems. Strong understanding of AC and DC electrical systems. Proven fault-finding and troubleshooting ability. Experience with plant monitoring systems, SCADA, or online PV monitoring platforms. Ability to compile clear technical reports. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Advantageous Qualifications & Experience Red Seal Electrician. 3-Phase Wireman’s Licence. N5 / N6 Electrical Engineering. National Diploma or BTech in Electrical Engineering. Instrumentation or automation experience. Experience with commercial or utility-scale solar PV plants. Experience with grid-tied solar systems and battery storage integration. Knowledge of preventative maintenance strategies for PV plants and electrical equipment. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a technically strong, hands‑on technician who is comfortable working with both field‑based maintenance and remote plant monitoring. You should be able to identify faults, analyse performance data, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and take ownership of technical issues through to resolution. You will be well suited to this role if you are: Analytical and solutions‑driven. Strong in electrical fault finding. Comfortable working independently. Detail‑oriented and process‑driven. Safety‑conscious and quality‑focused. Able to manage multiple priorities. Confident communicating with clients, contractors, and internal teams. #J-18808-Ljbffr
