Overview We are seeking a technically strong Applications Engineer to design, develop, and integrate digital solutions for clients in the manufacturing sector. This role sits at the intersection of operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT), delivering scalable and secure systems that improve production performance and operational visibility. The ideal candidate combines industrial automation knowledge with software development capability and enjoys working in multidisciplinary engineering environments. Position Info Job Description: Work with stakeholders to analyse and document business, operational, and technical requirements across OT and IT environments Design, develop, deploy, and maintain industrial software applications, including HMI and SCADA solutions Develop and manage database schemas, optimise queries, and maintain reliable data integrity across SQL and NoSQL environments Design and implement APIs and integration interfaces connecting PLCs, SCADA, IIoT, ERP, and analytics platforms Contribute to system architecture, secure implementation practices, testing, and solution validation Support deployment, troubleshooting, documentation, and ongoing system improvements Skills & Experience Minimum 2+ years’ experience in industrial automation or a related environment Experience with PLC, SCADA, DCS, or similar industrial platforms Exposure to system integration using databases, APIs, and protocols such as REST, MQTT, or OPC UA Understanding of industrial networking fundamentals and basic cybersecurity principles Experience delivering projects in sectors such as FMCG, Mining, Water, or Manufacturing Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science Proficiency in Python, C#, Java, and SQL Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel Only South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.
