The Intern will provide high-quality technical support while maintaining the integrity of the organization’s digital infrastructure. This position is based in Germiston and will focus on first-level user support, hardware maintenance, and the administration of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem (including Exchange, SharePoint, and OneDrive). Key Responsibilities User Support & Troubleshooting: Provide first-level technical support for hardware, software, and network issues (e.g., password resets, printer issues, basic application assistance). Document and track all support requests and resolutions in the help desk system. Assist in setting up and configuring new employee workstations and equipment. Microsoft 365 User Lifecycle Management: Assist in the creation, modification, and termination of user accounts in the M365 Admin Center. Manage licensing assignments for various M365 applications. Perform basic password resets and troubleshoot multi-factor authentication (MFA) issues. Email (Exchange Online) & Communication Support: Assist with creating and managing distribution lists and security groups. Provide first-level support for common Outlook and Exchange Online issues. Manage site access and user permissions on designated SharePoint sites and document libraries under supervision. Assist users with basic OneDrive sync issues, file sharing, and version history. System & Hardware Maintenance: Assist with inventory management of all IT assets (hardware, software licenses). Prepare, configure, and deploy new hardware (laptops, desktops, peripherals). Perform routine system updates, patching, and virus scans under supervision. Project Assistance: Support the Group Tech Coordinator on specific projects, such as system migrations, hardware rollouts, new site setups or software testing. Conduct research on new technologies and potential solutions to business challenges. Administrative Support: Assist with scheduling, organizing meetings, and general office tasks related to the IT department. Ad Hoc Technical Support and Assistance: Be prepared to handle urgent, unscheduled tasks and support requests as directed by the Group Tech Coordinator. Provide prompt assistance with unexpected technical issues (hardware, software, or network) that require immediate attention outside of routine operations. Assist with special, one-time projects or reports requiring immediate data compilation or system modification. Provide general physical and logistical support for the IT department as needed. Requirements National Diploma or a Bachelor's degree program in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Basic understanding of computer hardware components (PC/Mac) and common operating systems (Windows/macOS) .
