The role of Trade Marketing Specialist will look after all trade marketing aspects of Abbott Nutrition brands available in trade/retail in South Africa. What You’ll Do The ANI South Africa trade marketing specialist’s primary purpose is to bridge the gap between Abbott and retailers in South Africa by ensuring products are effectively promoted and positioned on shelf. This role drives sales growth by developing strategies, campaigns, and in-store activities that increase product visibility and consumer demand/consumption. The position exists to align marketing efforts with sales objectives, ensuring that brand strategies translate into measurable business results at the point of purchase. Plan, secure necessary approvals, execute and support the ANI South Africa trade team with all trade related marketing activities in various retail stores and pharmacy groups, trade shows, trade conferences and events. This includes annual trade marketing plans, long-range trade marketing strategies, and managing trade budgets. Present annual trade plans to the EMEA trade team. Ensure flawless execution. Monthly reporting on all budgetary aspects of trade spend, trade marketing activities, upcoming trade marketing plans, market share performance per retailer, independent pharmacy groups, and potential new trade channels in future. Qualifications And Expertise A minimum of 4–5+ years’ experience as an FMCG retail marketing specialist is essential, with proven exposure to trade and/or brand marketing within the FMCG or healthcare sector in South Africa. Hands‑on experience working with key retailers, including retail pharmacy chains, is required. Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills, with the ability to drive effective in‑store execution and align marketing initiatives with sales objectives. Previous experience within the nutritional or health products category will be advantageous. Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Solid business planning and commercial acumen. Personal attributes include being assertive, self‑motivated, proactive, hard‑working, and enthusiastic. Additional Requirements Willingness and ability to travel 10–20% per month.
