Job Purpose To develop and lead the execution of the commercial healthcare strategy in order to drive sustainable growth, improve competitive advantage and increase market share through sales growth, margin optimisation and innovation, while ensuring regulatory compliance and strengthening the customer value proposition through affordability, access and availability in line with overall business objectives. Role Overview The Commercial Executive: Health is accountable for the commercial performance, strategic positioning and governance of all health-related categories across the business, encompassing frontshop health categories and scheduled medicines. The role integrates commercial leadership, regulatory assurance, supplier strategy, financial planning, marketing input and omnichannel execution to deliver sustainable growth, while ensuring full alignment with relevant regulatory and professional pharmacy standards. Success in the role depends on balancing sales growth, margin optimisation and innovation with strict compliance requirements, strong supplier partnerships and a compelling customer health value proposition. Key Accountabilities To deliver sales, margin and overall financial results for Commercial Health in line with approved budgets and strategic objectives. To develop and execute category strategies across frontshop health and scheduled medicines to support sustainable and competitive growth. To lead strategic supplier negotiations, including joint business plans, co-operative funding, M&T agreements and value added services To oversee pricing, promotional frameworks, and preferred product or formulary strategies in line with regulatory requirements To drive market share growth through range optimisation, innovation and disciplined commercial execution To ensure stock availability and supply continuity across all suppliers, mitigating shortage and disruption risks To provide commercial input into marketing and omnichannel execution to enhance customer engagement and accessibility To champion adherence to the Medicines and Related Substances Act, SAPC regulations and other relevant legislation To build strong cross-functional partnerships with internal teams including Supply Chain, Marketing, OMNI, Finance, Store and Pharmacy Operations and HR.
