Job Title Senior Data Analyst Location Johannesburg, South Africa Job Summary We are looking for a highly analytical and experienced Senior Data Analyst to join our team in Johannesburg, South Africa. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transforming complex business data into meaningful insights, developing dashboards and reports, and supporting strategic decision-making across departments. The candidate should have strong experience in data analysis, reporting, business intelligence tools, SQL, and dashboard development, along with the ability to work with large datasets and communicate insights effectively to stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Analyze large datasets to identify trends, business patterns, and actionable insights. Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and MIS reports using Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI tools. Write complex SQL queries for data extraction, validation, and reporting purposes. Monitor and track KPIs, operational metrics, and business performance indicators. Collaborate with business, operations, finance, and management teams to understand reporting requirements. Perform data cleaning, transformation, and validation to ensure data accuracy and consistency. Automate recurring reports and improve reporting efficiency. Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports for senior management. Conduct ad-hoc analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making. Present analytical findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and structured manner. Identify opportunities for process optimization and business improvement through data analysis. Required Technical Skills Strong proficiency in SQL for data querying and analysis. Hands‑on experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other business intelligence tools. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Power Query, dashboards, and data analysis functions. Experience working with large datasets and relational databases. Knowledge of data modeling, ETL processes, and data visualization best practices. Understanding of business intelligence and reporting frameworks. Preferred Skills Experience with Python or R for data analysis and automation. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS is an advantage. Experience with ERP, CRM, or financial reporting systems is preferred. Exposure to predictive analytics or forecasting models is a plus. Soft Skills Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities. Experience Requirements Minimum 6+ years of experience in Data Analysis, Business Intelligence, or Reporting roles. Proven experience in dashboard development, SQL querying, and business reporting. Experience working with cross-functional business teams and management stakeholders.
