This position will support a team locally based in South Africa and Global Teams, offering a flexible hybrid work arrangement that accommodates both office and out-of-office work schedules. Responsibilities Conduct assignments in the mechanical engineering field. Maintain a very good understanding of building codes and standards. Integrate and coordinate designs with other built environment disciplines. Understand the statutory processes associated with the built environment and construction industry. Plan, organise and manage moderately complex projects. Make recommendations on alternate solutions to engineering problems. Prepare and present technical plans and reports. Institute changes in methods, designs or equipment. May be project leader on medium sized projects. Collect and analyse information from discipline and interdisciplinary project BIM models. Fully develop the design content by applying both design and technical knowledge to ensure the production of high‑quality outputs by following project timelines. Participate in the interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables, including BIM spatial reviews (virtual walkthroughs and clash detection). Work on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations, specifications, sketches, diagrams, specific discipline BIM models, drawings, reports, and tender documents. Identify discrepancies in results and propose an approach to solve new problems encountered. Perform work under the agreed‑upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision. Maintain and develop the highest level of technical skills and abilities, ensuring the quality of model production by BIM/CAD teams for accuracy to design instructions. Coordinate with authorities for scheme approvals. Client Relationship Management Build and maintain client relationships. Attend client meetings as technical support to gather information and discuss project requirements, explain/ defend work, etc. Participate in the development and preparation of bids and proposals—displaying the ability to present solutions to clients in a professional and technically competent manner. Qualifications BSc Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university. 8+ years of experience after obtaining qualification specifically in the built environment. Registered as a Professional Engineer with ECSA. Experience in all three of the main mechanical engineering disciplines (HVAC, Wet Services & Fire) will be advantageous.
