The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring maximum equipment availability through effective preventative maintenance, advanced fault-finding, root cause analysis, and technical leadership. Working closely with engineering and production teams, you will be responsible for maintaining critical plant equipment, improving maintenance standards, reducing downtime, and ensuring compliance with all engineering, safety, and quality requirements. What You'll Do • Ensure continuous equipment availability through effective preventative and corrective maintenance activities• Attend to major mechanical breakdowns and restore equipment safely and efficiently• Perform advanced fault-finding, diagnostics, and root cause analysis• Improve maintenance quality standards to reduce rework and abnormal downtime• Manage equipment reliability initiatives and maintenance improvement projects• Support spare parts management and critical component availability• Identify and mitigate equipment-related risks across the factory• Monitor and manage work completed by external service providers• Drive compliance with engineering standards, safety requirements, and statutory regulations• Coach and develop colleagues to strengthen technical capability within the team• Support asset management, quality, environmental, safety, and continuous improvement programmes What You Bring • N4 or N6 qualification in Mechanical Engineering• Relevant Trade Test qualification• Minimum 10 years post-apprenticeship experience• Strong mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting capability• Advanced understanding of converting and packaging machine timing and mechanical drive systems• Proven experience within an FMCG manufacturing environment• Strong understanding of preventative maintenance principles and reliability improvement practices• Ability to analyse equipment failures and implement sustainable corrective actions• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills What Success Looks Like • Reduced equipment downtime and improved plant availability• Successful execution of preventative maintenance schedules• Improved equipment reliability and maintenance quality standards• Effective management of breakdowns and corrective actions• Strong safety, quality, and engineering compliance performance• Enhanced technical capability and knowledge-sharing within the maintenance team• Positive contribution to operational efficiency and production targets
