Duties: Develop & Implement Pre-School Programme: Plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of the children in the program.Provide nutritious snacks and lunches.Provide adequate equipment and activities.Ensure equipment and the facility are clean, well maintained and safe at all times.Provide weekly and monthly schedules of activities.Develop culturally appropriate programs and activities.Develop activities that introduce math and literacy concepts.Establish policies and procedures including acceptable disciplinary policies.Be familiar with emergency procedures. Supervise Children: Ensure children are supervised at all times.Provide various experiences and activities for children including songs, games and storytelling.Establish routines and provide positive guidance.Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable.Implement positive discipline when required.Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand.Observe children and make note of progress.Integrate special needs children in a positive and respectful manner.Plan holiday programmes for children on the reserve. Communicate with Parents & Community Members: Discuss childrens development with parents.Discuss identified problems and needs with professionals as appropriate.Participate in community activities.Promote literacy and early education. Maintain Program Administration: Keep parents informed of program expectations, program activities and their child progress.Develop daily activity plans. Staff Supervision & Management: Training and development of team members.Outline clear role expectations for team members.Ensuring appropriate conduct, efficiency, productivity and discipline.Performance assessments and rewards. General: Perform other related duties as required.Assist other departments when required.Be available to serve on various committees that are required by the company and by law.Adhere and partake in the Long Runs 4 C initiatives and GER standards. Requirements: Tertiary qualification in Education (BEd).Formal training in early childhood development.Montessori Accredited (Advantageous).Valid drivers license.Computer Literate. Working Conditions: Weekend work will be required and sometimes after hour support.Must be comfortable working in a wilderness environment.
