Responsibilities Anticipate and facilitate provider workflow, inform patients of anticipated wait times, and assist with time management during provider encounters. Perform initial intake screening by verifying the reason for the patient visit; obtain and record patient information and vital signs per network policy. Prepare and maintain examination and treatment areas, and prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments. Assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments as directed. Maintain and update medication and immunization records, and review and update health maintenance records. Complete all forms and data sets for patient care to the maximum limit of scope. Schedule, coordinate, and monitor appointments; complete patient recalls daily. Apply aseptic techniques and infection control, practice standard precautions, including hand washing and disposal of biohazards. Comply with quality assurance practices, perform inventory of supplies and equipment, routine maintenance of administrative and clinical equipment. Apply computer and electronic equipment techniques to support office operations and perform quality control methods. Practice finances: review and complete ancillary charges for office visits, perform clean billing submittals. Perform venous and capillary blood withdrawal; perform intradermal, subcutaneous and intramuscular injections. Assist with durable medical equipment application, administer medications and immunizations, perform tympanograms and ear irrigations (with provider order), and perform waived laboratory tests. Give approved instructions and patient education to patients. Manage messaging and order workflow; organize and allocate orders in a timely fashion. Research and respond to messages promptly and act as liaison between the PSR, MA, and provider. Participate in huddles with providers to anticipate needs, view daily schedule to track patient arrivals, communicate and assign tasks. Investigate and forward messages to the appropriate provider, contact patients when orders are answered, and record messages in EMR. Call pharmacies to place prescriptions or refax through electronic fax, facilitate care management calls if necessary, and expedite written provider orders. Fax or mail paperwork to pharmacies, other medical centers, or patients, ensuring all paperwork is signed by the appropriate provider in a timely manner. Demonstrate clear understanding of clinic structure and design, and perform work within legal and ethical boundaries. Prerequisites & Qualifications State-certified Medical Assistant with Vetted testing. Good to excellent computer skills, navigating multiple applications. One year of experience preferred. American Heart Association BLS for Health Care Providers required. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English. Maintain patient confidentiality and document communications accurately. Comply with state, federal, and regulatory agency requirements. Demonstrated knowledge and comprehension of Medical Assistant scope and role. Ability to engage and master scope of practice within a fast‑paced environment. Ability to comprehend, execute, and act within the limits of MA scope under provider direction. Ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks with frequent interruptions. Clear understanding of clinic structure and design. Professional, neat, and well‑groomed appearance; business professional attire. Respect and recognize cultural diversity. Maintain a calm demeanor at all times. Employ professional telephone and interpersonal techniques. Recognize and respond effectively to verbal, non‑verbal, and written communications.
