Payroll Administrator – AVI LIMITED We are seeking a Payroll Administrator to join AVI LIMITED’s Financial Shared Services (FSS) Division in Bryanston, Johannesburg. The role will manage the entire payroll process for a business unit, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payroll delivery while fostering continuous improvement. Line Manager Payroll Manager Key Performance Areas Payroll Input and Checking Update, calculate and process payroll information to ensure employees are paid on time and correctly. Handle new engagements, terminations, promotions, and salary changes. Update third‑party payment information (Medical Aid, Pension, Provident Fund) and balance earnings/deductions. Stay current with policies, processes, and legislation. Investigate and follow up on monthly variances and report anomalies or non‑compliance. Maintain payroll records in accordance with statutory requirements and audit frameworks. Update garnishee information and coordinate with attorneys on non‑compliance. Resolve outstanding CATS/workflow approvals and reconcile variance reports. Run sample payslips for testing calculations. Balance net pay reports and prepare files for sign‑off and release. Build trust relationships with business units to identify training needs and resolve monthly issues. Payroll Reconciliations and Postings Run monthly checks on postings and ALV files per BU. Review reconciliations, follow up on outstanding items, and post manual journals. Review monthly invoices and GL reconciliations. Update SOPs and work instructions. Address outstanding or incorrect entries. Manual Payments Update and check manual payment input and schedules. Validate banking details and reasons. Run simulation payslips and perform calculations to ensure accuracy. Payroll Compliance Conduct wage type audit checks against legislation, agreements, BU rules, and policies. Perform ad‑hoc manual calculations for compliance validation. Test and sign off on all system changes. Use macros and mail merge to populate termination templates as required by legislation. Customer Service Communicate monthly timelines. Address queries professionally within SLA timelines. Payroll Reporting Update errors and late input on management report templates. Minimum Requirements Minimum 3 years of full‑cycle payroll experience. Minimum 5 years of weekly wages experience. Experience in a large complex payroll department. Experience working cross‑functionally with human resources and other departments. In‑depth knowledge of payroll taxes (PAYE, SITA, VAT) and legislation. Qualifications Completed matric/grade 12. Relevant tertiary qualification preferred. Technical Competencies & Knowledge Thorough knowledge of SAP Payroll System. Exposure to an HR administration system.
