Role Description This is a full-time hybrid role for a Electrical Engineer located in the Cape Town Metropolitan Area, with flexibility for some remote commissioning work. The Electrical Engineer will be involved in the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems for diverse projects, including power systems and power distribution. The successful candidate will also be responsible for assisting and executing electrical commissioning activities for Data Centre projects in South Africa and into Africa, ensuring all systems meet design specifications and operational requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating electrical designs, ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards, supervising project execution, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver optimized and innovative solutions. Experience and Qualifications Strong expertise in Electrical Engineering, including knowledge of electricity and related principles. 2-5 years of hands‑on experience in electrical system design and commissioning. Strong knowledge of electrical systems including MV/LV switchgear, transformers, motors, and control systems. Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, single‑line diagrams, and P&IDs. Experience with testing equipment such as relay test sets, multimeters, and power quality analyzers. Ability to manage projects, ensuring quality, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is advantageous. Physical Requirements Ability to work in various environmental conditions (indoor/outdoor). May require climbing ladders, working at heights, and in confined spaces. Travel requirements up to 50% depending on project locations across Africa. Skills and Competencies Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Strong attention to detail and safety consciousness. Strong competence in Microsoft Office suite and electrical design software (ETAP, SKM etc.). Leadership and mentoring capabilities. Employment Type Full-time - permanent.
