Overview Calibre Life Science | Cape Town (Projects across South Africa) Calibre Life Science is seeking an experienced Senior HVAC Project Engineer to take technical and execution leadership across HVAC projects within the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector. This role is suited to a seasoned engineer who is comfortable owning HVAC project delivery from concept and design through to installation, commissioning, and validation in regulated environments. You will play a key role in technical decision-making, client engagement, and mentoring junior engineers, while ensuring projects are delivered safely, compliantly, on time, and within budget. Key Responsibilities Lead the design, coordination, and execution of HVAC systems for process, utility, and facility projects in the pharmaceutical industry. Take full responsibility for HVAC system design, including heat load calculations, equipment selection, schematics, and P&IDs Oversee and manage site installations, commissioning, and handover activities Ensure HVAC systems comply with GEP, GMP, and pharmaceutical validation requirements Prepare and review validation and commissioning documentation Manage suppliers, subcontractors, and procurement activities, including tendering and technical adjudication Participate in technical risk assessments Liaise directly with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and progress reporting Chair technical meetings and issue minutes and action trackers Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior HVAC engineers Support continuous improvement of HVAC engineering standards, procedures, and templates Ensure compliance with company HR, QA, and safety procedures Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree / BTech in Mechanical Engineering 5–10 years’ experience in HVAC engineering, preferably within pharmaceutical or regulated industrial environments Proven experience delivering HVAC projects from design through to commissioning Strong understanding of GMP, GEP, HVAC validation, and cleanroom principles Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD (2D layouts, P&IDs; Revit advantageous) Proficient in MS Project, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook Experience managing contractors, suppliers, and multidisciplinary project teams Strong communication, leadership, and client-facing skills Other Requirements Willingness to travel to project sites across South Africa Valid driver’s licence and passport Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple concurrent projects Why Join Calibre Life Science?
