First Officer (JHB, DBN, HLA, CPT) – FlySafair City of Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa Responsibilities Ensure safety of flight in a timely manner. Monitor the flight path and systems of the aircraft. Perform checks and procedures before, during and after each flight. Communicate with internal departments, external service providers and passengers. Navigate and operate the flight. Ensure compliance with regulations and company policies and procedures. Uphold the company’s core competitive edge (i.e., excellent customer service). Submit accurate and complete legal administrative documentation. Assume command if the Captain is incapacitated. Stay updated with applicable SACAA and international aviation laws and company operation manuals. Assist the Captain with operational and administrative duties as requested. Maintain a high standard of personal discipline, conduct and appearance. Support the Captain in maintaining high professional expertise and morale among the crew. Pre‑Flight: Review flight route, briefing sheets, forecast, runway conditions and complete required documents. In‑Flight: Execute normal, abnormal and emergency checklists, monitor flight instruments, give immediate advice to the Captain on deviations or hazardous situations. Post‑Flight: Complete all post‑flight procedures, submit relevant reports and documentation. Qualifications Grade 12 or equivalent. SACAA ATPL (preferred); SACAA Commercial (essential). Class 1 SACAA Medical (essential). Type‑rated on Boeing (advantageous). Non‑type‑rated or Boeing‑rated with a minimum of 1500 hours (including 500 multi‑turbine hours) (essential). Minimum of 1500 flight hours on commercial jets over 20 tons. Multi‑crew experience (essential). No existing medical conditions. Willingness to sign applicable training bonds. No criminal record; willing to undergo drug and alcohol testing. Own transport and RSA driver’s licence. South African citizenship with proof of identity. Valid RSA passport. Willingness to work irregular hours on a roster. Detailed knowledge of National Aviation regulations such as SACAA, ICAO, Doc 8186. Knowledge of commercial and airline transport pilots licensing content. Personal Attributes Immaculate time keeping. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
