PKF Accounting is seeking a detail-oriented and technically strong Senior Accountant to join our accounting team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, overseeing full accounting functions, and ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. This role requires a proactive individual who thrives in a deadline-driven, multi-client environment and can engage professionally with clients and internal stakeholders. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES, but will not be limited to: Client Accounting & Financial Management Manage full accounting function for a portfolio of clients across various industries Perform bookkeeping up to trial balance and balance sheet level Prepare and review: Monthly management accounts Income statements and balance sheets Cash flow reports Conduct detailed balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in line with accounting standards Tax & Compliance Prepare and submit VAT returns (VAT201) and ensure compliance with SARS regulations Assist with provisional and annual tax calculations where required Ensure adherence to all statutory deadlines and regulatory requirements Liaise with SARS on queries, audits, and submissions Payroll Administration Process payroll for multiple clients Prepare and submit VAT returns (VAT201) and ensure compliance with SARS regulations Perform EMP501 reconciliations and submissions Perform OID reconciliations and submissions Ensure compliance with PAYE, UIF, SDL and OID regulations Work with payroll systems to maintain accuracy and confidentiality Client Relationship Management Act as a primary point of contact for clients on accounting-related matters Provide financial insights and support to clients and directors Build and maintain strong, professional client relationships Communicate effectively regarding deadlines, deliverables, and financial performance Operational & Team Support Work collaboratively with junior accountants and provide guidance where required Assist with process improvements and efficiencies within the accounting functionEnsure all work is completed accurately and within deadlines Support partners/directors with ad hoc financial and operational requests REQUIREMENTS & COMPETENCIES Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 3–5 years’ experience in an accounting or similar role Experience within an accounting firm or multi-client environment is highly advantageous Strong knowledge of: Bookkeeping principles up to trial balance VAT and payroll legislation Financial reporting and reconciliations Proficiency in accounting software (preferably Xero) Experience with payroll systems (preferably SimplePay) Strong Microsoft Excel skills High attention to detail and accuracy Strong organisational and time management skills Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines simultaneously Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking Excellent communication and interpersonal skills #J-18808-Ljbffr
