We are seeking a hands‑on Databricks Workspace Administrator to own and operate our Databricks platform at scale. This role is responsible for workspace governance, catalog and identity management, and direct engagement with tenant teams to enable analytics, AI, and Generative AI workloads safely and efficiently. This role is not a pure infrastructure or ticket‑based admin role. It sits at the intersection of platform engineering, governance, and tenant enablement, ensuring Databricks workspaces are secure, well‑structured, and easy for teams to onboard and scale. Secondary work, if the above dries up, would be higher‑level admin tasks to fine‑detail monitoring and alerting dashboards/pipelines that benefit all tenants in the workspace. Responsibilities Act as Workspace Admin; manage access controls, cluster policies, and job permissions; enforce standards for environment separation, guardrails, and cost/usage controls. SQL experience and dashboard development/maintenance and manage Unity Catalog structures (catalogs, schemas, tables/views); implement and maintain permission models aligned to governance standards. Identity & Service Principal Management: create and manage service principals, groups, and permission assignments; support non‑human identities for CI/CD, automation, and integrations; partner with identity/security teams to ensure least‑privilege access and auditability. Tenant Enablement & Engagement: onboard and support tenant teams; run enablement sessions to understand use cases and recommend workspace/catalog/access patterns; provide guidance on best practices for analytics, ML, and troubleshoot platform configuration and access issues; maintain runbooks and documentation; identify recurring issues and drive automation. Development and maintenance of platform monitoring and alerting. Handle high‑level admin tasks to fine‑detail monitoring and alerting dashboards/pipelines that benefit all tenants in the workspace (e.g., set up alerting on App usage metrics, LLM rate limits/token usage, dashboards on inference tables for anomaly/drift detection). Requirements 4+ years of industry experience. Hands‑on experience as a Databricks Workspace Admin for 2+ years. Experience managing users, groups, and service principals, including least‑privilege access models (2+ years). Solid understanding of how data engineering, analytics, and AI/ML teams consume platform services (4+ years). Experience operating in an enterprise and/or regulated environment with strong governance requirements (4+ years). Strong communication skills and comfort engaging directly with multiple tenant teams (4+ years). Hive/Glue and JDBC data pipeline setup/maintenance within the Databricks ecosystem (2+ years). Experience supporting ML / Generative AI workloads. Experience integrating Databricks with CI/CD and automation patterns. Familiarity with cloud platform concepts (AWS or Azure) relevant to Databricks operations. Experience contributing to platform standards, templates, and self‑service onboarding.
