Responsible to ensure that the agreed Packing Plan is executed on time in full (OTIF) or exceeded daily with the resources available, whilst eliminating on-hold batches, customer complaints and reducing wastage (consumables, spillages, electricity, water, overtime, cleaning materials, maintenance costs, but not limited to), eliminate equipment abuse, with minimal downtime, no idle time, no horseplay; that the required levels of Quality, HSE, Food Safety and Packing Departmental standards, procedures, policies, rules and regulations are always followed/adhered to and maintained throughout the Packing process, whilst strictly adhering to the company Code of Conduct, Workplace Values, Line of Authority and to ensure that the customer receive the correct packed finished goods (packaging, product), in the right quantity, of high quality. Packers shall be 100% productive, efficient, and effective during working hours and teamwork is of utmost importance, whilst driving the Packing OEC’s daily. Scope of Job Achieve or exceed daily agreed packing plans to meet operational targets. Report any machine or equipment faults/abuse to the Production Supervisor immediately to reduce downtime. Continuous improvement on packing efficiencies to increase output; mass per man per minute. Eliminate on-hold batches through negligence and packing errors i.e., wrong labels and packaging used, cross packing, incorrect product packed, over/under packing salt inserts, incorrect quantities packed, and/or baled. Eliminate cross-contamination of allergens by strict adherence to Food Safety standards. Ensure that the correct product is packed in the correct packaging and applied label. Ensure that batch weights are correct and report any deviations immediately. Identify and report non-value adding activities in the operation. Customer Centricity Responsible to eliminate internal/external customer complaints by ensuring that all operational materials/goods (blends, raw, nitrates/nitrites) are packed in the right packaging, in the right quantity (Technical Notes), of high quality, OTIF to meet dispatch targets, and customer orders. Process Responsible for adherence to Food Safety, General Manufacturing Principles, Quality Assurance, and Quality Control Systems, Environmental Awareness, Safety, Security and Health in the workplace whilst assessing Risks continuously. Responsible for tight control on movement of product, materials, machinery, equipment in the Packing Hall. Responsible for daily housekeeping according to the Master Cleaning Schedules and all deviations are rectified immediately. Responsible for “clean-as-we-go” daily. Responsible for adhering to the monthly departmental cleaning rotation schedules. Ensure that cleaning equipment is used and stored as per Food Safety Regulations. Ensure that broken pallets are removed out of circulation. Ensure that layer pads are placed between product and wooden pallets. Qualifications & Skills Level Grade 12, and minimum 1 years’ experience within the Food Manufacturing/ Processing/Warehousing Environment or equivalent experience. Good knowledge and experience of HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and working in a regulated environment (e.g., Food Industry). Good communication, understand, read and write English. Basic mathematics. Knowledge of Microsoft packages: Excel and Word advantageous. Food Safety, HSE, OHS, GMP experience advantageous. Packing knowledge experience advantageous.
