Dis-Chem Pharmacies’ CJ Marketing has an opportunity for a Procurement Officer in Delmas to manage suppliers, trading terms, market analysis, product selection/buying, planning, stock management, driving turnover and profit, reporting and analytics, and implement the promotional strategy set out by the agency’s marketing objectives. Minimum Requirements Essential: Grade 12 – Matric and/or Senior Certificate with Mathematics and Accounting Minimum of 3 years of procurement experience in the media / design, marketing or events industry Advantageous: Degree in Buying and/or Finance or Retail Management Job Specification Stock Management Analyse consumer buying patterns to predict future trends and consider these when choosing product ranges Buy merchandise according to CJ Marketing’s client needs Regularly review performance indicators such as sales and discount levels Ensure stock turn, sell‑through and stock on‑hand are within required ranges Collaborate with interdependent departments to identify spend impacting the category and mitigate risks Review and track sales performance figures and competitor activities Assist in managing plans to ensure optimal stock levels at all times Liaise with the sales team to ensure supply meets demand Take appropriate action to maximise sales and minimise losses Place supplier orders on relevant systems, negotiating prices and delivery contracts Conduct intense research on product ranges before deciding on merchandise Assist in choosing product ranges based on sales reports and market research Ensure operating and financial plans meet Production department objectives to meet customer needs Effectively research and identify trend‑setting opportunities for the agency to bring to market Marketing Assist in ensuring a detailed marketing plan is formulated in line with the overall company strategy Ensure clients can access options to replenish existing stock Accurately analyse target audiences to determine the most effective marketing offers that align with consumer trends Assist in identifying campaign costs for budget allocation to each marketing campaign Assist in establishing a schedule to cover campaign design, development, production and distribution of marketing material to meet launch dates Assist in managing the marketing critical path to meet set deadlines Assist in reviewing cost against the original campaign budget after campaigns to report on efficacy Develop and maintain pricing strategies for client types to meet customer needs while remaining competitive Financial Assist in developing a yearly strategy to help sales teams reach their targets Keep informed of inventory, expenditures and deliveries of various product ranges and ensure these align with department budgets and objectives Assist in increasing profit margins where possible Administration / Reporting Ensure appropriate action is taken regarding changes in demand and logistics of certain products Write accurate, up‑to‑date reports to facilitate sales forecasting Judge product quality using customer feedback as a measuring tool Report monthly sales, trends and finances to the Agency Sales Manager Report on product plans monthly (sales, profit, market shares and stock returns) Stakeholder Relationship Work closely with the Sales team, online store team, designers and marketing staff to ensure accurate product quantities and displays in line with quality expectations Conduct regular supplier reviews Negotiate trading terms Present collections / new ranges of new products to management regularly Write reports on relevant products, sales, quality and feedback Actively nurture and grow meaningful supplier relationships Liaise with other relevant departments in the group to ensure projects are completed on time General Maintain housekeeping in accordance with Dis-Chem standards; keep workplace clean and tidy Adhere to Dis-Chem Policies and Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures Follow Health and Safety rules and regulations ROLE COMPETENCIES Knowledge : Industry standards, product laws and regulations, retail and buying, market trends, competitor analysis, supplier negotiations, trading terms, financial planning Cognitive Skills : Problem solving, creative and innovative thinking, decision making, judgment Communication Skills : English – read, write, speak; ability to use different communication methods (written and verbal) at various levels Interpersonal Skills : Advanced customer service, teamwork and collaboration, networking, emotional intelligence, influencing others Quality Orientation : Attention to detail, accuracy, focus on quality, thoroughness Leadership Skills : Enforcing laws, rules and regulations, strategic vision Special conditions of employment South African citizen Office based MIE, clear criminal and credit record Driver’s license and/or own reliable transport Remuneration and benefits Market related salary Medical aid Provident fund Staff account ONLY SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL BE CONTACTED.
