Job Overview We are seeking a passionate, creative, and hardworking Junior Pastry Chef to join our professional kitchen team in Roodeplaat, Pretoria, Gauteng. You will assist in the preparation and presentation of high‑quality pastries, desserts, baked goods, and plated desserts while maintaining exceptional hygiene and food quality standards. This role is ideal for a young chef looking to grow within a fast‑paced hotel or restaurant environment. Key Responsibilities Prepare pastries, desserts, cakes, breads, and baked items according to recipes and presentation standards. Assist the Head Chef with daily mise en place and kitchen preparation. Ensure consistency, freshness, and quality of all pastry products. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in accordance with food safety regulations. Assist with stock control and ingredient management. Ensure proper storage and handling of ingredients. Support the kitchen team during busy service periods. Maintain a positive attitude and willingness to learn. Minimum Requirements Culinary qualification or pastry certification advantageous. 1–2 years’ pastry or bakery experience preferred. Basic knowledge of pastry techniques and baking methods. Passion for desserts, baking, and presentation. Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays. Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure. Good communication and teamwork skills. Reliable transport to and from work.
