Key Accountabilities Under the leadership of the Executive: Strategy & Commercial (ESC), and in conjunction with Senior Management within the Business Unit, lead the development and refinement of the organisations strategy and strategic agenda. Design, develop, and implement the organisations Strategic Framework. Contribute to high-quality research and analysis of macro-economic trends, sectors, competition, and financial developments to shape strategic direction. Identify and assess strategic issues and manage strategic initiatives across the organisation. Contribute to organisational growth through the identification of strategic opportunities. Prepare strategy-related internal and external presentations and documentation. In conjunction with Business Development and the Project Management Office (PMO), contribute to the identification and initiation of strategic projects aligned with operational and strategic requirements. Develop and monitor the annual Balanced Scorecard (BSC) linked to the business plan matrix. Facilitate the development of the annual Shareholder Compact (SHC) and Corporate Plan. Participate in strategic planning and ensure implementation of approved strategic initiatives. Build and maintain stakeholder relationships and manage ongoing stakeholder engagement. Provide input into the development of the annual Group budget. Participate in strategic stakeholder sessions within the State-Owned Entity environment. Drive the development and enhancement of performance management processes, including balanced scorecards, reporting templates, policies, and regulatory frameworks. Drive the annual reporting process in conjunction with the Office of the Company Secretary. Coordinate inputs and prepare Annual and Quarterly Reports to the Shareholder. Collate divisional quarterly reports in line with the business plan matrix. Monitor divisional scorecards against operational plans. Present annual and quarterly reports to EXCO and the Board for approval. Submit quarterly reports to the Shareholder within Treasury deadlines. Monitor individual performance contracts against divisional balanced scorecards. Monitor divisional quarterly performance. Manage the achievement of individual targets in accordance with SMART principles. Respond to audit queries relating to performance information. Ensure compliance with legislation relating to Performance Planning and Reporting. Identify, analyse, interpret, and present strategic risks impacting business requirements. Ensure Treasury regulations are implemented within the organisation. Conduct ongoing benchmarking against similar industries and provide recommendations. Maintain and update strategic and operational risk registers, ensuring risks are identified, monitored, and mitigated through clear action plans. Ensure effective contract and SLA management by monitoring service provider performance and enforcing agreed deliverables. Promote adherence to internal controls, statutory requirements, and audit expectations. Support governance processes through high-quality documentation and compliance practices. Ensure auditors are provided with the required information in response to queries. Contribute towards achieving a clean administrative audit outcome. Calculate and forecast departmental financial requirements and develop budgets aligned to project and business needs. Oversee the departments budget. Identify resource requirements, including financial, staffing, equipment, and infrastructure needs for large-scale projects. Oversee and guide the Strategy, Planning & Company Reporting team to ensure effective delivery of objectives. Build a high-performing team through structured performance management, coaching, and continuous knowledge sharing. Identify team development needs, ensure training is budgeted for, and support implementation of development plans. Establish and maintain succession plans for the team. Lead talent acquisition processes, including interviewing and compensation recommendations in partnership with Human Capital. Develop and maintain workforce and recruitment plans aligned to current and future business needs. Support the ESC in reviewing and updating departmental structures and role profiles annually or as required to align with organisational needs. Motivate for additional headcount where required and obtain approval from the ESC. Approve and plan team leave to ensure operational continuity. Manage disciplinary matters, grievances, and performance improvement processes with support from Human Capital. Recognise and motivate team members to maintain engagement and high performance. Contribute to the implementation of Employee Engagement Survey action plans within the Strategy, Planning & Company Reporting team. Requirements: A Postgraduate Degree or equivalent (NQF Level 8) in Business Management, Business Science, Economics, or a related qualification. A minimum of 810 years experience as a Specialist in a Strategy and Reporting role. A Masters Degree in Business Management, Economics, or a related qualification will be an added advantage. 510 years experience in Strategy Development within a State-Owned Company (SOC), Manufacturing, Engineering, Agricultural Processing, or related industries will be an added advantage. 5+ years of recent experience in Strategy Development within a SOC, Manufacturing, Engineering, Agricultural Processing, or related industries will be an added advantage. Experience within a management consulting firm, preferably in a Strategy Practice, will be an added advantage. Excellent organisational and reporting skills will be an added advantage. Ability to communicate effectively, particularly in written communication and presentations. Profound understanding of African and global market potential within relevant industries will be an added advantage. Ability to design and facilitate workshops, as well as prepare and deliver professional presentations to key decision-makers, will be an added advantage. Ability to work effectively within multiple stakeholder environments with limited reporting-line authority and drive alignment and consensus on complex matters will be an added advantage. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to simplify complex issues, will be an added advantage. Valid drivers licence.
