The Propagation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the propagation, growth, and general health of spekboom plants at the nursery. This role involves managing day‑to‑day operations, coordinating staff, implementing best horticultural practices, ensuring high survival rates, and maintaining sustainable, cost‑effective production systems. Key Job Requirements And Expectations Oversee and participate in the cutting, rooting, and transplanting of spekboom. Monitor plant health and apply appropriate pest and disease control measures. Maintain optimal irrigation and nutrient regimes for different growth stages. Planning & Scheduling Develop and manage propagation and production schedules to meet planting targets. Track stock levels, plan for replanting, and manage delivery timelines. Staff Supervision & Training Lead, train, and supervise nursery staff and seasonal workers. Monitor performance and ensure adherence to safety and work protocols. Quality Control Ensure all plants meet size and health standards before distribution. Implement procedures to reduce loss and improve plant survival rates. Inventory & Recordkeeping Maintain accurate records of propagation batches, survival rates, losses, and outputs. Manage inventory of tools, supplies, and plant material. Sustainability & Compliance Apply eco‑friendly nursery practices, especially in water use and waste management.
