Overview Safari JOBS seeks a robust and intuitive leader to head the guiding department at an established 5‑star safari property located just two hours from Pretoria. The role involves mentoring a dedicated team of guides, fostering a culture of service excellence, and shaping premium guest experiences in a high‑standard Big5 environment. Qualifications Clear criminal record. Excellent employment track record with references verified. Excellent English fluency and literacy. Computer literate. 2–4 years of Assistant Head Guide / Head Guide experience in a large 5‑star establishment within a Big5 environment. FGASA NQF4 or higher qualification. NDT registered. First Aid certification. ARH and competencies , , and . Valid driver’s licence and a PrDP Trails Guide / VPDA qualification or in progress. Hands‑on, relationship‑builder, passion for training mentors, high self‑motivation and drive, intuitive, collaborative, sustainable, focused, and a “no‑nonsense” work ethic. Responsibilities Provide sound leadership in the guiding department to ensure all guests have an exceptional, value‑added safari experience during all game drives. Ensure all field guide department duties comply with FGASA, NDT, and relevant legislation. Maintain the company’s rules and culture within the department. Continuously upskill and develop field guides. Oversee daily and weekly fleet inspections. Manage performance and discipline of staff. Prepare budgets and supply relevant information to the GM regarding stock takes, fleet maintenance, vehicle safety audits, and related items. Compensation and Benefits Negotiable monthly salary.
