How you'll role The Lobster Factory Manager will oversee the full operational management of the on‑island lobster processing facility on Tristan da Cunha. The role demands a senior professional willing to reside permanently on one of the world’s most remote islands. Candidates will be expected to deliver efficient, safe, and compliant lobster processing aligned with commercial, quality, and sustainability goals. Interaction with fishing operations, vessel schedules, and supply chain logistics will be integral to the position, along with managing and developing the local workforce. What you'll do Manage end‑to‑end lobster processing from intake to export Ensure compliance with HACCP food safety, hygiene, and export regulations Oversee vessel administration, operational planning, and scheduling Train and manage the local workforce, ensuring performance alignment Develop and implement operational systems, procedures, and improvements Align factory operations with vessel activity; manage inventory and logistics Maintain accurate records, monitor costs, and report to Cape Town management Operate independently and resolve issues in a remote environment Ensure maintenance of plant, equipment, and cold storage systems Support maintenance planning in coordination with the Superintendent Engineer What you'll need Minimum 5 years of industry experience in commercial fishing or related fields Formal HACCP training and practical knowledge Strong administrative and HR management skills Proficiency in digital tools like MS Office for technical report maintenance Excellent written and verbal communication skills Physical fitness and sober habits Experience in staff management, conflict resolution, and training Adaptability to remote operational environments and ability to learn independently Strong multitasking and prioritisation abilities #J-18808-Ljbffr
