Contract Type: Fixed-Term (6 months, with possible extension) Location: Remote Mine Site Southern Africa Roster: 6 weeks on site / 3 weeks off rotation Overview We are seeking a proactive and experienced Inventory Controller to lead the setup and optimization of inventory management systems and practices at a remote mining operation in Southern Africa. This is a hands‑on role requiring deep technical knowledge, strategic thinking, and the ability to coach and uplift local teams. Duties and Responsibilities Inventory System Setup: Design and implement robust inventory control systems tailored to mining operations. Material Master Improvement: Standardize and enhance item coding, integrate OEM part numbers, establish and maintain min/max stock levels, identify and eliminate redundant or obsolete stock, support disposal or repurposing strategies. Bill of Materials (BoMs): Develop BoMs for critical assets and equipment, align BoMs with maintenance and procurement plans. Material Requirements Planning (MRP): Initiate and manage MRP processes, forecast demand based on operational schedules. Stock Holding Review: Audit current practices and procedures, recommend and implement improvements. Inventory Optimization: Balance availability with cost‑efficiency, reduce stockouts and overstocking. Staff Coaching & Development: Train warehouse and procurement personnel, promote best practices and system literacy. Stakeholder Management: Ensure ongoing communication with Management, have weekly head of section meetings, information sessions and training sessions where required or new/change in processes. Ensure safety, legal and company policies are adhered to. Implementation of a culture of best practice maintenance. Qualifications and Experience Minimum 5 years experience in inventory control, preferably in mining or heavy industry. Strong understanding of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Pronto, Oracle). Proven experience in setting up inventory systems from scratch. Technical aptitude in mechanical/electrical components and mining equipment. Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Ability to work independently in remote and challenging environments. Strong interpersonal and coaching skills. Previous remote site or international mining experience advantageous. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills in automation and process control. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. High safety and compliance awareness.
