Responsibilities Operate an efficient distribution centre by implementing optimal processes and procedures to minimise costs and maximise working capital. Manage all aspects of stock handling from picking orders to shipping and dispatching of parcels and associated processes. Plan daily, weekly, and monthly inbound and outbound operations, including resource planning, departmental organisational design, relief planning, seasonal planning, and adherence to plans. Maintain housekeeping standards with OHS Officer engagement and audit of departmental standards in accordance with business objectives. Allocate resources effectively and efficiently at lowest cost according to changing needs. Provide effective leadership and direction for the operations team through involvement and communication to deliver on key business drivers. Manage customer liaison process and ensure outbound queries are resolved timely and exception trends addressed. Optimise warehouse space, equipment, and flow and plan future requirements. Ensure stock accuracy through disciplined stock control and accuracy improvement initiatives. Measure and manage staff through formal appraisals, development, coaching and disciplinary procedures. Assert and drive accountability at all staff levels. Document, update and communicate all business processes, procedures and job profiles. Produce management reporting on operational performance, productivity, stock control and budgets. Participate in annual budget process and long‑term planning; control monthly operational costs to stay within budget. Ensure efficient and safe operation of DC automation systems. Forecast and procure packaging consumables cost‑effectively in line with budgets and volume projections. Manage projects within stipulated timeframes. Liaise and negotiate with suppliers where required. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma in Engineering, Supply Chain or Logistics. 8‑10 years of experience in supply‑chain operations. Experience in operational project management. 8 years managing a large staff complement. Knowledge of ERP systems. Experience with budgets and cost analysis. Lean or continuous improvement experience. Performance management skills – knowledge of industrial relations and practices. Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines. Strong customer‑service orientation, goal‑oriented and motivated to succeed. Compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards and the OHS Act. Drive continuous improvement measures within your department. Engagement with internal stakeholders including national operations, HR, risk & security, and other support functions. Attributes Required Continuous improvement experience (Lean principles, 5S, multi‑skilling, cost‑saving drives). Proven track record of implementing operational best practices in a distribution and warehousing environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Structured and disciplined management style. Ability to motivate and inspire others. Strong problem‑solving skills. Self‑starter with high energy levels. Well‑developed business and operational acumen. Analytical mindset, able to use data to inform decision‑making. Dynamic individual with proven experience in delivering change and innovative solutions. Preferred experience: fast‑paced environment, e‑commerce, fine picking, ERP systems, budgets and cost analysis, Lean, performance management, strong financial acumen.
