Basic qualification in terms of Government notice R425, i.e., Diploma / Degree in General Nursing or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwifery. A diploma/Degree in Health Service Management and Nursing Education, registered with recognized training and education institutions, will be an added advantage. Must be currently registered with SANC. A minimum of 9 years appropriate/recognisable experience in Nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. At least 3 years of period referred to above must be appropriate/recognizable experience at the management level. Computer literacy and strong writing skills, knowledge of legal prescripts that regulate nursing. Health service knowledge, nursing care process, and SOPs. Nursing strategy, Ideal Hospital Realization, and all relevant Frameworks such as Nursing Act, OHS, Labour Act, Disciplinary Code, Grievance Procedure, and all the legislations that will guide management. Skills including leadership/managerial, Planning, Organising, Coordinating, Communication, Problem-solving, decision making skills on portray professionalism, accuracy, and co-operation. Duties Execute managerial duties and functions with proficiency in support of the strategic objectives with APP and the operational plan of the institution. Management, provision of quality Nursing Care within the relevant prescripts. Participate in the formulation, implementation and monitoring of the scope of practice, Policies, Guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures, and Regulations pertaining to Nursing Care. Ensure compliance with the Ideal Hospital Realisation Framework and other initiatives in the institution, including provincial priorities. Improve quality care through the reduction of complaints. Coordinate and support the units to comply with the institutional operational plan e.g infection prevention, control, and training. Display empathy for patients, promoting advocacy and facilitating realistic treatment programmes as well as Occupational Health and safety policies. Manage and supervise effective and efficient utilization of all resources. Ensure compliance with professional, ethical standards, and other legislation. Problem-solving within the limits of the public sector and institutional policy framework. Implement, execute disciplinary code and support grievance procedure as per the Labour Relations Act. Analyse and ensure submission of accurate quality reports timeously to meet deadlines. Ensure compliance on CPD Framework and the ethics of nursing. Monitor and manage effective and efficient training and development of Nurses. Develop and ensure constructive and effective relationships with patients, nursing, and other stakeholders e.g MDT and patients families. Participate in some Hospital committees as delegated.
