Data Science Subject Matter Expert | South Africa Learning Sandbox is an education technology consultancy based in Cape Town, South Africa. The heartbeat of our business is producing bespoke digital content while also offering strategic, pedagogical and digital asset research, design and production services. Position Overview We are seeking a Subject Matter Expert in data science to join our team. This role involves creating educational content for data science and AI learning experiences, primarily targeted at high school audiences. You’ll join a multidisciplinary team of high-performance professionals—including learning designers, creatives, product designers and engineers—who are responsible for developing high-quality interactive educational content for the digital sphere. You will be part of the content production team working on a project to make free science education for the world. Responsibilities Writing detailed content outlines for data and AI-related interactives Collaborating with Learning Design, Product and Faculty on ideas for robust data science education learning experiences Verifying accuracy of final content (no errors or misconceptions introduced) Requirements Advanced degree (PhD preferable) in which extensive use of data science or statistics was needed for the completion of a thesis or dissertation At least 3 years of post-education experience either teaching data science or applying data science in an industry or otherwise applied setting Comfort with emerging technologies and willingness to learn Strong problem-solving skills and people skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and engaging manner suitable for the target audience Ability to work well independently as well as collaboratively with good organisation and time-management skills Willingness to work remotely, very important. Must be eligible for employment in South Africa.
