JOB TYPE: Permanent (In – Office) LOCATION: South Africa, Somerset West REPORT TO: Head of Supply Chain KEY PURPOSE OF JOB The Buyer will be responsible for ensuring the procurement of technically compliant components and materials required for production. This role works closely with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to translate technical requirements into effective procurement strategies while managing supplier relationships and cost efficiencies. KEY TASKS Key Responsibilities Manage procurement activities through the ERP system Lead the Request for Quotation (RFQ) process Negotiate optimal pricing and delivery terms Create purchase orders and maintain procurement documentation Respond to internal and supplier queries effectively Monitor and evaluate supplier performance Support supplier sourcing and development initiatives Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes Technical Expertise Interpret and understand technical specifications, materials, and components Collaborate with engineering teams to translate requirements into procurement specifications Supplier Sourcing & Management Identify and evaluate suppliers based on technical capability, quality, and cost Negotiate contracts and build strong supplier relationships Supply Chain Coordination Work closely with logistics teams to ensure timely delivery Resolve supplier‑related issues (quality, delivery, pricing) Cost Management Analyse pricing and identify cost‑saving opportunities Implement cost reduction strategies without compromising quality Compliance & Documentation Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements Maintain accurate procurement and supplier records Continuous Improvement Identify and implement process improvements Optimize lead times and inventory levels QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Qualifications Matric (Grade 12) Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Supply Chain, or Procurement advantageous Extensive relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications Experience Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Buyer or similar role Minimum 5 years’ experience in Electronic purchasing field Minimum 5 years’ experience working with ERP systems Skills & Competencies Strong understanding of technical specifications in manufacturing environments Excellent negotiation and communication skills Proficiency in procurement tools and systems Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities High attention to detail and strong organizational skills Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment #J-18808-Ljbffr
