A global analytics organisation is expanding its Africa Data Science division and is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to design and deliver high-impact analytical solutions. The role is based in JHB and offers a hybrid work model with 2 days on-site per week. You’ll work with a talented team of scientists, statisticians, and engineers who use data to drive smarter business and consumer decisions. Your focus will include developing credit, fraud, and customer insights models that power strategic decisions across financial services, telecommunications, and insurance sectors. Lead the development and deployment of statistical models Collaborate with global cross-functional teams to design analytical frameworks and solutions that solve complex business problems. Present findings and recommendations through data storytelling, visualisation, and executive-level presentations . Provide technical mentorship and guidance to data scientists and analysts within the team. An Honours, Masters, or PhD in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field. 5-8 years of professional experience in data science, analytics, or consulting environments. A proven track record developing and interpreting credit risk, behavioural, or propensity models. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex analysis into actionable business insights. Expertise in Python, SAS or R and SQL Experience mentoring junior team members or leading small analytical workstreams. Familiarity with credit, financial, or consumer datasets , and exposure to cloud-based analytical environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) would be advantageous. Interested?
