THE OPPORTUNITY This is a senior leadership role for a seasoned project professional to take full ownership of EPCM project delivery across the mining and resources sector, from front-end engineering through to commissioning. The successful candidate will manage multidisciplinary teams, maintain client relationships, and drive performance against scope, schedule, cost, and quality baselines on technically complex engagements. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the full project lifecycle for EPCM engagements, from concept and feasibility through detailed design, procurement, construction management, and commissioning. Establish and maintain project baselines covering scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards, and drive measurable performance against those baselines. Build, direct, and co-ordinate multidisciplinary project teams, contractors, and subconsultants to ensure aligned, timely delivery. Identify, assess, and proactively mitigate project risks; escalat material issues to executive leadership with clearly formulated recommended responses. Serve as the primary client interface, maintaining relationships and ensuring client satisfaction through transparent communication and consistent delivery performance. Oversee procurement activities, including vendor selection, contract negotiation, and ongoing management of supplier and subcontractor performance. Produce and present regular project status reports, including earned value analysis, cost-at-completion forecasts, and schedule performance indices. Ensure all project activities comply with applicable health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) standards, legislation, and client-specific codes of practice. Mentor junior project engineers and co-ordinators, actively contributing to Mventech’s talent development and knowledge-transfer objectives. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS You must have: A Bachelor’s degree in engineering (any discipline) or a formally recognised project management qualification. A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent (e.g., PRINCE2 Practitioner). A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience, with at least five years in a project management role on EPCM projects in the mining or resources sector. A proven track record of delivering EPCM projects with a total installed cost (TIC) exceeding R500 million. Sound knowledge of EPCM contract structures, procurement strategies, and construction management principles. It would advantage you to have: Registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). Experience on projects within sub-Saharan Africa or other emerging-market jurisdictions. Exposure to both brownfields and greenfields mining projects. Proficiency in project scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project. A postgraduate qualification in project management or business administration.
