PURPOSE OF THE JOB To direct, coordinate and plan the storage and distribution of the goods (Deliveries) of the company. To manage the warehouse in a cost effective and efficient manner whilst continuously striving to exceed the service levels and standards set by Savino Del Bene and the clients. Maximize profit through active and continuous cost reduction program and innovative streamlining of the warehouse and distribution processes while maintaining our core values (Teamwork, Integrity, Innovation, Trust and Respect) and culture. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS MANAGEMENT Ensuring that the business image is portrayed to meet the standard of becoming the number one third party logistics service provider in South Africa. Monitoring the Departmental Managers and ensuring that the level of service offered is of high and expected standard. Visiting clients as and when needed in order to clarify and rectify any problem areas that might arise. Conducting Warehouse meetings on a regular basis in order to monitor the progress of the Warehouse. Conduct steering committee meetings with all Warehouse Clients to strengthen relationships and resolve problem areas / queries. Ensure that the staff members are aware of all Head Office developments and that they are communicated with on a regular basis. Assists Management and staff with problem solving. Initiate, recommend and provide solutions via the designated channels ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION Strategically manage warehouse in compliance with company’s policies and vision. Oversee receiving, warehousing, distribution and maintenance operations. Setup layout and ensure efficient space utilization. Initiate, coordinate and enforce optimal operational policies and procedures. Adhere to all warehousing, handling and shipping legislation requirements. Understand and execute bond principles and training needs. Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene and security. Manage stock control and reconcile with data storage system. Prepare annual budget in conjunction with Finance department. Liaise with clients, suppliers and transport companies. Plan work schedules, assign tasks appropriately and performance manage staff in line with Balance scorecard KPIs. Recruit, select, orient, coach and motivate employees. Produce monthly and weekly reports on Warehouse performance in terms of; Volume handled. Turnover (Warehouse and distribution). Claims with transporters. Stock accuracy (bin allocation). Interfaces between Savino and Clients. Receive feedback and monitor the quality of services provided. Desire to apply best practice and execute the innovative ideas that is being suggested by the warehouse manager Work hand- in hand with other departments to create the best facility ever; Finance, HR , Sales, Kam etc OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY INSPECTION % Compliance to Inspection conducted TEAM WORK AND DISCIPLINE Promoting teamwork to enhance a friendly and productive environment to promote and achieve growth. Maintaining discipline within the Warehouse to ensure that productivity standards of subordinates are met and staff morale is kept high. Implementing disciplinary or counseling procedures. Conducting disciplinary hearings in accordance with the stipulated and approved SDB Human Resources policies. Performance Management Developing, implementing, monitoring and maintaining KPA’s and Performance Standards for all divisions in the Warehouse. Ensure that the staff members are aware of all KPA’s and the desired Performance Standards applicable to their functions. Monitoring the KPA’s and Performance Standards. Providing a Service Level / Quality report to the Managing Director. Conducting Performance Appraisals for all employees in the Warehouse to ensure constant and high performance levels. Monitoring performance and ensuring all employees understand their function, responsibilities and their interrelation within the organization QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED Matric is Essential Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management or Warehousing Management EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Proven warehouse management experience of at least 8 to 10 years. Expertise in warehouse management procedures and best practices. Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives. Strong knowledge of warehousing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Hands on experience with warehouse management software and databases – Freightware KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED Knowledge of: Financials (budgets). People management. Transporter and network processes and procedures (requirements). Freightware Health and Safety Disputes, resolutions and settlements. Savino Del Bene rate / pricing structure(s). Service provider(s) rate / pricing structure(s). Savino Del Bene client / sector structure(s). Savino Del Bene network structure(s). Alternatives available within the service offerings and sectors.
