About the team This is a broad, dual-purpose role encompassing financial reporting, budgeting, regulatory reporting, financial analysis and operational responsibility in relation to Ninety One’s long-term employee ownership vehicles, Forty Two Point Two (FTPT), the Marathon Trust (MT), and other potential employee-aligned schemes. In addition to its core finance responsibilities, the role involves working closely with senior stakeholders from across the business to provide comprehensive technical and operational support to FTPT and MT. This includes acting as the primary banking and custody contact, managing external administrators (e.g. Intercontinental Trust in Mauritius), coordinating publication of financial results and stock market announcements, and supporting with governance and board meetings for the structures. The role also carries active involvement in corporate finance and transaction support for ad hoc Ninety One strategic projects, including financial modelling, due diligence, and deal-related analysis. The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with a strong financial accounting background, ideally gained within financial services or asset management, who has recent experience operating in a corporate finance or transaction advisory capacity. In this role you will Financial Accounting & Statutory Reporting (FTPT and MT) Take full responsibility for the statutory reporting (half-year and full year) for FTPT and MT, ensuring accuracy, completeness, timeliness and publication (as required). Prepare and oversee the production of management accounts/monthly finance packs for FTPT, providing clear analysis and commentary to senior management. Assist with the preparation of Board papers relating to FTPT’s financial performance. Assist with the preparation of trustee meeting papers relating to MT’s financial performance. Ensure timely and accurate regulatory reporting in line with applicable requirements. Maintain a strong controls environment and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards. Liaise with external auditors and manage the annual audit process for FTPT and MT. Oversee FTPT’s treasury function, including oversight of its bank accounts, money market investments and share custody accounts (and any linked cash accounts). Act as the primary relationship owner with banking counterparties, managing escrow accounts, settlement of debt instruments, share custody releases and top-ups and incoming funds tracking. Monitor compliance with security and financial covenants in relation to FTPT’s debt instruments, and report on such compliance. Provide finance support in relation to any investor relations activities of FTPT and MT. Provide finance support as part of a focused cross-functional team implementing any contributions and/or redemptions by participants in MT. Provide finance support in relation to tax matters impacting FTPT and/or MT. Prepare and monitor annual budgets for FTPT and MT. Oversee outsourced service providers in relation to FTPT and MT Manage the relationship with administrators and service providers, including fee oversight, renewal of service agreements, and reporting submissions. Corporate Finance & Transaction Support (Ninety One) Provide support on ad hoc corporate finance and strategic projects including acquisitions, disposals, refinancings, fundraisings, distribution partnerships and other strategic initiatives for Ninety One. Build and maintain financial models to support transaction evaluation, scenario analysis, and investment decisions. Coordinate with transaction advisors and legal counsel on corporate finance projects, including reviewing of fee invoices, managing information flows, and tracking action items Conduct financial due diligence and analysis in support of deal processes. Assist with the preparation of information memoranda, management presentations, and Board papers relating to transactions. Support post-transaction integration activities from a financial reporting and controls perspective. Work closely with senior management and external advisors on an ad hoc basis as transaction requirements arise. You should consider applying if you have Fully qualified accountant – CA(SA), ACA, ACCA, or CIMA required. Solid post-qualification experience in financial or management accounting, ideally within financial services, asset management, or a professional services firm with relevant clients. Demonstrable recent exposure to corporate finance, transaction support and financial modelling, whether in a dedicated corporate finance role, or transaction advisory environment. Experience with regulatory reporting is advantageous. Strong financial modelling skills, with the ability to build and interrogate models from scratch. Advanced Excel proficiency; comfort with large data sets and financial analysis.
