Job Responsibilities Assist in ophthalmic surgeries, ensuring a sterile environment and correct handling of surgical instruments. Provide high-quality pre-operative and post-operative care to ophthalmic patients. Work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, and the wider theatre team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Perform scrubbing duties for ophthalmic procedures, and assist in other surgical disciplines when required. Support and monitor patients undergoing local, regional, or general anaesthesia. Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with hospital policies. Adhere strictly to infection control, health, and safety standards at all times. Qualifications and Experience Matric Registered Nurse (RN) Valid registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC). Over 5 years of nursing experience, including theatre experience. Previous experience in ophthalmology or related disciplines is preferred. Scrubbing experience in ophthalmic surgeries is highly advantageous. Experience in other surgical fields will be beneficial. Anaesthetic training or relevant experience is advantageous but not essential. Key Skills: Ability to perform effectively in a high-pressure surgical environment.
