CRITICAL RISK MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT - METAL MINING The Role: We are looking for nine highly experienced Critical Risk Management (CRM) practitioners to join a multi-year, site-based CRM implementation project across nine operations, including underground hard-rock mines, processing plants, and smelters, for a major global metal mining group operating in India . This is a field deployment role, not an office advisory position. The Basics Location: India (FIFO – Fly-In Fly-Out) Deployment Duration: 3-year project (12-month initial contract, with yearly renewal based on performance) Shift Pattern: 14 days on-site, 14 days off-site (10-hour shifts, Mondays to Saturdays, Sundays off) Remuneration: ZAR 6,000 - ZAR 9,000 per day - negotiated individually based on experience, sector depth and CRM software proficiency. Other Allowances: All travel, accommodation and subsistence covered. Day rate is for time on site. Job Description The successful candidates will spend the majority of their time on operational sites, coaching supervisors and frontline workers in the real-world application of the CRM framework, supported by a critical control management software platform. The CRM Specialist will lead the on-the-ground implementation, ensuring that the CRM framework is translated into observable, repeatable behaviours, embedding CRM into the daily operations rather than merely as a compliance exercise. Key Responsibilities: (CRM = Critical Risk Management) Field-based Coaching: Coach supervisors and frontline workers during live work activities directly at the workface. CRM Implementation: Lead operational implementation of the CRM framework, ensuring it moves from design to routine execution on-site. Embed CRM Software: Integrate CRM requirements into daily operations using the client's CRM software platform. Simplify CRM Concepts: Translate complex CRM concepts, bowties, and critical controls into simple, practical, observable behaviours. Drive Workforce Ownership: Help operational teams take ownership of CRM as an operating discipline and foster a deep understanding of why critical controls matter. Support Site Leaders: Assist site leaders in conducting higher-quality field-based critical risk conversations. Adapt Coaching Approach: Reinforce best practices while adapting your coaching approach to different sites, languages, and cultural contexts. 20+ years (neg) of hands-on safety and critical risk management experience in metal mining. Strong background in open-pit and/or underground hard-rock mining, base metals, and smelter operations. Proven track record of implementing CRM frameworks on-site, engaging directly with the workforce (not from an office advisory role). Ability to move CRM from design documents into real operational execution. Deep operational credibility and recognition by the workforce for your understanding of the job. Strong field coaching capability, with the ability to challenge, influence, and bring frontline teams along in safety improvements. Willingness and physical capability to commit to long-term FIFO deployment in India , with camp-based accommodations at site. Highly Regarded (Preferred Experience) Experience embedding Critical Control Management (CCM) or Control Effectiveness programs in high-hazard environments. Practical implementation experience with Forwood Safety CRM tool or equivalent CRM software platforms. Multi-site, multi-cultural deployment experience in African, Asian, or Latin American jurisdictions. Background in adult learning or structured workplace coaching.
