JOB DESCRIPTION The positions will have full accountability for underwriting all very large Commercial Property policies with exposures greater than R250m at every stage of the policy lifecycle, from quote to amendments and renewal. This role requires discretion for policies that require reinsurance. The incumbent must receive quotations, provide brokers with necessary information, and be able to discuss policy details directly with brokers, giving advice and suggesting solutions. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Quotations of large Commercial Property risks Preparation of quotations and review of underwriting terms in line with Santam guidelines and mandates Engagement with brokers and internal stakeholders on complex risks Preparation of reinsurance calculations and exposure assessments in respect to quotes Support to Relationship Managers on new business and technical underwriting decisions QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Grade 12 (Matric Certificate) qualification Higher Certificate in Insurance or equivalent NQF 5 Short term Insurance qualification – 120 credits Minimum of 5 years experience in commercial and/or corporate insurance At least 3 years experience in a sales or new business environment within a mid corporate or corporate underwriting function Working knowledge of Re‑Insurance is required Computer literate (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint – intermediate proficiency) Sound technical, product and wording knowledge of Commercial or Agri insurance Professional designation – Licentiateship (LIISA) – advantageous COMPETENCIES Flexibility Excellent interpersonal, communication and networking skills Strong client service orientation Ability to work under pressure Self-confidence Problem solving MS Office package proficiency, particularly Microsoft Excel #J-18808-Ljbffr
