We are looking for an experienced and results-driven Senior Project Manager to lead and oversee complex projects from initiation through to completion. Commencement date: 01 July 2026 Overview The Senior Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the entire lifecycle of complex projects, from initiation to closure. They lead cross-functional teams, develop project plans, manage budgets and resources, and ensure successful project delivery while meeting client expectations and organisational goals. Key responsibilities Contractual Alignment: Monitor delivery against Terms of Reference (ToR), Service Level Agreements (SLA), and scope of work. Compliance: Ensure all work complies with regulatory standards (e.g. POPIA, government audit rules), particularly in public sector engagements. Documentation & Sign-Offs: Maintain audit trails, sign-offs, and version-controlled documents for all project phases. Internal Reporting: Provide regular reports to the PMO, including milestone achievements, risks, and resource utilisation. Client Reporting: Submit progress reports, dashboards, and invoices to clients in accordance with contractual obligations. Executive Summaries: Develop concise, impactful briefs for Boxfusion executives and client leadership. Budget Ownership: Develop and monitor project budgets, ensuring alignment with profitability goals. Cost Control: Track actual vs. planned spend, prevent overruns, and optimise for cost-effectiveness. Timesheet Oversight: Ensure accurate timesheet logging by all team members and flag discrepancies that may affect project profitability. Project Planning & Oversight: Lead end-to-end project lifecycle from initiation to closure, ensuring alignment with client objectives and Boxfusion’s business goals. Strategic Alignment: Ensure that project scope, deliverables, and execution strategies align with broader program goals. Multi-Project Supervision: Manage multiple concurrent projects or large-scale programs with interdependencies, resources, and timelines. Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary liaison with senior client stakeholders (e.g. Directors, CIOs), ensuring satisfaction, transparency, and trust. Expectation Management: Translate client requirements into achievable goals; manage scope creep and propose change requests where necessary. Steering Committee Engagement: Prepare and present status updates, risks, and recommendations in high-level governance forums. Mentorship & Coaching: Guide junior project managers, implementers, business analysts, and change managers, fostering growth and performance. Cross-Functional Coordination: Align activities across technical teams (developers, DevOps), functional teams (trainers, BAs), and third-party service providers. Capacity Planning: Forecast, allocate, and optimise human and technical resources to meet project milestones efficiently. Project Methodology Enforcement: Ensure adherence to project management frameworks (Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid) as applicable to the project context. Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify, assess, mitigate, and elevate project risks and issues. Quality Assurance: Ensure deliverables meet defined acceptance criteria, client standards, and Boxfusion’s internal quality frameworks. Post-Implementation Reviews: Facilitate retrospectives to capture lessons and best practices. Knowledge Sharing: Contribute to internal knowledge bases and mentoring programs. Process Optimisation: Recommend improvements to PMO processes, tools, and methodologies. Qualifications & Experience Minimum 5 years of project management experience, with at least 3 years managing complex IT implementation projects. Experience working with government/public sector clients or on donor-funded projects (e.g. World Bank, UNDP) is highly advantageous. Experience in software development and implementation projects, including post-golive support and user adoption phases. Demonstrated success managing multi-disciplinary teams and multiple concurrent projects. Familiarity with project profitability tracking, timesheet-driven project controls, and reporting on KPIs. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or a related field (required). Project Management Certification such as: PMP (Project Management Professional) – highly preferred PRINCE2 Practitioner – optional but advantageous Agile or Scrum certifications (e.g. Certified ScrumMaster) – optional depending on methodology preference Core Skills Project Planning & Execution: Strong command of project lifecycle management (initiation to close-out) using both agile and waterfall methodologies. Scope & Budget Control: Proven ability to manage scope, budgets, and timelines while controlling risks and avoiding scope creep. Team Leadership: Ability to lead cross-functional teams including business analysts, developers, implementers, and trainers. Client Relationship Management: Skilled in stakeholder engagement, expectation setting, and conflict resolution—particularly within public sector environments. Reporting & Documentation: Strong skills in preparing project charters, status reports, change logs, risk registers, and post-implementation reviews. Problem Solving: Advanced analytical thinking and structured problem-solving to unblock project barriers and improve delivery efficiency.
