We are recruiting for a Finance Director / Chief Financial Officer role within a well-established and evolving insurance business, where governance, commercial growth, and strategic financial leadership remain central to the organisations success.This executive-level position works closely with the CEO and Board, driving financial strategy, regulatory compliance, capital management, and long-term business sustainability. Its a high-impact leadership role where strategic thinking, technical excellence, and commercial judgement are expected daily, because "well sort it out next quarter" isnt considered a financial strategy here.The successful candidate will take responsibility for the overall financial leadership of the organisation, ensuring compliance with IFRS, SAM, and the broader insurance regulatory framework. Youll oversee solvency management, capital adequacy, financial reporting, and regulatory submissions, while also partnering with the business to support sustainable growth and sound commercial decision-making.This is the type of environment where your week may include executive strategy sessions, Audit Committee meetings, actuarial reviews, regulator engagements, capital discussions, and urgent forecasting requests, often all within the same day and usually just before someone asks for "a quick revised model".The role requires a highly strategic and commercially astute CA(SA) who can confidently engage at a Board level, influence executive decision-making, and remain composed when an email marked "Urgent FSCA Submission" appears in your inbox.Key Responsibilities: Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, contributing to strategic business decisions Provide financial insight to support product development, pricing, and growth initiatives Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term strategic financial planning processes Oversee accurate and compliant monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting Ensure full compliance with IFRS (including IFRS 17 & IFRS 9), SAM, and insurance regulatory requirements Oversee statutory reporting and engagement with the Prudential Authority (PA) and FSCA Manage capital adequacy, liquidity, and solvency within the SAM framework Lead capital management initiatives and balance sheet optimisation strategies Oversee treasury, tax, audit engagements, and funding relationships Ensure strong governance frameworks, risk management practices, and internal controls Collaborate closely with actuarial, compliance, risk, and audit functions Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team Present financial performance, strategic recommendations, and regulatory matters to the Board and executive stakeholders Job Experience and Skills Required: CA(SA) qualification (essential) MBA or relevant Postgraduate qualification advantageous Minimum 10 years senior financial management experience within the insurance sector At least 5 years operating at a CFO or executive finance level Strong experience within the insurance regulatory environment, including PA and FSCA engagement Proven expertise in SAM, solvency management, capital adequacy, and regulatory reporting Deep understanding of IFRS 17, IFRS 9, and insurance finance principles Demonstrated experience presenting to Boards, Audit Committees, and executive governance structures Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management capability Ability to interpret insurance regulations - while maintaining a sense of humour - is highly beneficial Competency Requirements: Strategic and commercial acumen Leadership and influencing capability Governance and risk management orientation Strong analytical and problem-solving ability Executive communication and stakeholder engagement skills Results-driven mindset Integrity and sound professional judgement Change leadership and innovation capability Apply now!
