VACANCY: ART & CRAFTS TEACHER Empowering Learners Who Learn Differently Our client is seeking a passionate, creative and patient Art & Crafts Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will teach Art & Crafts from PRE-TOC to Year 4 within our Technical Occupational Skills Programme, working with neurodiverse learners who learn differently and benefit from practical, hands‑on, structured and supportive teaching. About the Role The Art & Crafts Teacher will be responsible for planning and presenting engaging, practical lessons that help learners develop creativity, fine motor skills, confidence, discipline, independence and basic vocational skills. The teacher must be able to adapt lessons for learners with different learning needs, including learners with learning barriers, ADHD, dyslexia, mild to moderate cognitive challenges, emotional regulation difficulties and other neurodevelopmental profiles. Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will be expected to: Teach Art & Crafts from PRE-TOC to Year 4 . Plan practical, differentiated lessons suitable for mixed‑ability learners. Develop learners’ creativity, confidence, concentration, patience and task completion skills. Teach basic art and craft techniques in a structured and accessible way. Prepare learners for practical assessments, exhibitions, projects and school events. Maintain a safe, organised and stimulating creative workspace. Keep accurate records of planning, assessment, learner progress and intervention. Work closely with the academic and skills team to support learner development. Use art as a tool for expression, emotional regulation and confidence‑building. Minimum Requirements A relevant teaching qualification or proven experience in Art, Crafts, Creative Arts, Design, Visual Arts or a related field . Experience teaching or facilitating practical creative activities. Strong classroom management skills. Patience, emotional maturity and a genuine interest in working with neurodiverse learners. The ability to differentiate lessons according to learner ability. Good planning, assessment and record‑keeping skills. SACE registration. Experience in a special needs, remedial, vocational or skills‑based school environment will be a strong advantage. The Ideal Candidate Creative, organised and practical. Calm, firm, kind and consistent. Able to teach step‑by‑step and break tasks into manageable parts. Comfortable working with learners who may need repetition, structure and encouragement.
