Diesel Mechanic Job Summary A Diesel Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and equipment, including trucks, buses, construction machinery, generators, and agricultural equipment. The role requires strong mechanical skills, attention to detail, and adherence to safety standards. Key Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance on diesel engines and related systems. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults. Repair or replace defective engine components, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, and suspension parts. Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance checks. Use diagnostic tools and computerized testing equipment to identify issues. Maintain accurate service and repair records. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company procedures. Test vehicles and equipment after repairs to verify proper operation. Order and manage spare parts and workshop materials when required. Respond to breakdowns and emergency repair requests. Qualifications and Experience Trade certification or qualification in Diesel Mechanics. Proven experience repairing and maintaining diesel engines and heavy equipment. Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems. Ability to read technical manuals and schematics. Valid driver's license (commercial/heavy vehicle license preferred).
