Assistant Manager Nursing Speciality Unit (PN-B4) Reference Number: refs/ Directorate: OBSTETRICS & GYNAECOLOGY Number of Posts: 1 Package: R PER ANNUM (ALL INCLUSIVE) Requirements Grade 12 certificate or equivalent. Basic R425 qualification (i.e. Degree/Diploma in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse with Midwifery. An additional qualification registered with SANC according to Regulation R212 in Health Services Management/Nursing Administration (Degree or Diploma). Current registration with the South African Nursing Council. Minimum of ten (10) years of appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. At least six (6) years of that period must be appropriate/recognisable experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology department after obtaining the one (1) year post‑basic qualification in Oncology Nursing Science/Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Science. At least three (3) years of that period must be appropriate/recognisable experience at management level. Computer literacy (Ms Word, Power Point) will be an added advantage. Competencies and skills: leadership, ward management/ward administration, planning, organising, coordination and communication skills, ability to make independent decisions, empathy for patients, promotion of advocacy and holistic care, knowledge of administrative policies and guidelines. Duties Delegate, supervise and co‑ordinate the provision of effective and efficient patient care through adequate nursing care. Initiate and participate in health promotion to ensure consistent communication of relevant, accurate and comprehensive information on health care. Develop, establish and maintain constructive relationships with nursing and other stakeholders (inter‑personal, inter‑sectoral and multi‑disciplinary teamwork). Participate in the analysis, formulation of nursing guidelines, norms and standards. Implement the Ideal Hospital Maintenance Framework Version 2.0. Manage effective utilisation and supervision of human, financial and material resources. Coordinate provision of effective training and research. Work night shifts, weekends, public holidays and provide relief to the supervisor when required. Maintain professional growth, ethical standards and self‑development. Manage personnel performance and review thereof (contracting, midterm review and final assessment).
