Children's Commissioner Officer: Monitoring and Awareness, Ref No. DOTP 58/2026 Job Department: Department of the Premier, Children's Commissioner Office, Western Cape Government. Location: Cape Town, CBD. Job Purpose To promote the rights and well‑being of children in the Western Cape Province, support policy development, conduct monitoring and evaluation, and create public awareness programmes. Key Responsibilities Monitor, advocate and report on child well‑being and service delivery across the province. Support development and implementation of policies and strategic frameworks. Prepare, participate in and assess monitoring and evaluation exercises, program reviews, and annual reviews. Report on the activities of the Children’s Commissioner and support the Commissioner’s functions. Create, organise, and implement public awareness programmes on children’s rights for identified audiences. Provide information and advice on children’s rights to persons, institutions or organs of state whose policies and practices relate to children. Support investigations related to the mandate of the Commissioner. Qualifications Appropriate 3‑year tertiary qualification (National Diploma) on NQF level 6 as recognised by SAQA in Social Sciences or a related field. Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a similar environment (experience in children’s rights, youth and community development, and child protection). Competencies Application and understanding of legislation, public communication, governance norms, policies of the day, and child rights. Behavioural competencies: delivering results, meeting customer expectations, stakeholder engagement, persuasion, analysis of data.
