This role is responsible for all Avis Car Sales’ sales and operations activities within the Kwa Zulu Natal and Free State provinces and accounts for 20% of the National Revenue annually. Responsible for developing and implementing regional business strategy through overseeing daily sales and operations, allocating resources, developing managers, managing financial performance through setting financial targets, budgeting and controlling costs. Demonstrates a deep understanding of the automotive market, financial and consumer legislation and economic changes that impact vehicle pricing and residual values, marketing and sales strategies. Uses market and industry information to effectively develop and adapt departmental plans to create high performing and successful sales teams in the retail, wholesale and online channels. Builds and fosters stakeholder relationships at all levels, internally and externally. Leads and shapes the work environment in the designated region to deliver exceptional customer service, revenue growth, volume targets and profitability. Key deliverables and outputs Develop and implement the departmental sales and operational strategy, adapting to market and organisational changes/requirements and plan/adjust to achieve the strategy Allocate human and operational resources to deliver strategic intent Recommend and provide input into existing and new policies Develop standard operating procedures that support policies Analyse and keep abreast of industry and market trends and provide input into setting Wholesale pricing for vehicle sales Retail pricing for vehicle sales Online pricing for vehicle auction. Budgets, Forecasts and Costing Work closely with rental and leasing operational General Managers to plan inventory levels Forecast and develop annual workforce plan Forecast facilities and capital expense requirements Establish requirements for marketing and advertising through analysing campaign performance Create monthly, quarterly and annual sales and operational forecasts through consideration of industry activity, competitive landscapes, economic climate and operating environment Collaborate with the financial manager to set the annual regional budget and five-year business plans Present the region’s budget for approval by the Executive: Car Sales Present the 5-year business plan for approval by the Executive Committee Identify, analyse and adapt to market trends that effectively manages cost, optimises sales margins, grows volume and revenue and maximise opportunities Deliver the budget and business plan through adequate resource allocation. Reporting Review and analyse industry and market reports including NAAMSA, Financial Institutions, NADA, Competitor reports and use the information to enable effective decision making. Measure, analyse and report on regional profitability monthly and adapt operational plan to remediate inefficiencies Analyse and review sales, operational and financial reports (Dashboard, Income Statements, Debtors Ageing, Stock Reports) to optimise performance Identify trends in customer purchasing behaviours through market information and available customer satisfaction reports to effect change within dealerships for improvement Review and analyse lead management system reporting to identify opportunities for improvement within region Analyse online marketing reporting to understand and track advertising campaigns benefits/drawbacks Analyse online auction reporting both internally and externally to measure and track performance Combined all reporting information to compile and submit monthly market and performance report (Board Report) to Executive: Car Sales Develop reporting PowerPoint presentations for Monthly, quarterly and annual business updates and business planning sessions. Operational and Sales Management Visible and engaged Leadership of all Branch managers within region Manage inventory levels to ensure retail outlets are sufficiently stocked at all times Identify opportunities to procure relevant additional stock externally (e.g. premium stock) Proactively monitor and measure each branch managers performance against monthly and quarterly plan through daily MDI huddles and put counter measures in place to address challenges where needed Based on regional performance and industry trends, contribute to setting of the national price list monthly (trade and retail) Proactively identify and action cost-reduction measures applying lean methodology Optimise the use of human resources (rotation, multi-skilling and contractors) to ensure targets are met Conduct regular dealership visits to all locations within region of responsibility (monthly for local branches and quarterly for out-of-town branches) Review and analyse financial dashboard daily and manage branch managers to take action to achieve targets (Volume, Revenue, Second Gross, Gross Profit, Debtors collection, inventory mix, age and levels) Review and analyse auction online platform data to make pricing and product availability decisions Effectively manage, build and maintain customer relationships (B2C, B2B) to ensure customer centricity and future growth Effectively manage, build and maintain supplier relationships (Dealer Groups, Financial Institutions, Landlords, Advertisers) Approve Trade-ins within 24 hours Oversee the Car Sales’ physical and online footprint is adequate to meet customer needs Implement adherence and maintain the corporate image in presenting the brand Oversee the maintenance of new and existing facilities to support future growth Oversee that facility renewals are actioned timeously for business continuity. Governance and Compliance Continuously drive and oversee that all dealerships comply with required legislative requirements (OHS compliance, SAPS Clearance, Second-Hand Goods Registers, FSCA compliance, POPIA regulation, CPA, NCR and Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Money Laundering and Suspicious Transaction Reporting, Reporting Institution for High Valued Goods) Oversee health and safety structures/processes and sign off on monthly Health and Safety reports Oversee business continuity and disaster recovery plans to ensure plans are updated and meet required standards Oversee that environmental risks are identified and appropriately actioned at all the branchesOversee the compliance to Internal and External Audits standards. People Management Identify, attract, develop and retain talent Provide and communicate clear vision, direction and decisive leadership to direct reports, ensuring all are aligned to the goals and have a clear purpose Set and communicate clearly defined performance standards / targets for direct reports, holding them accountable to achieve these and providing support and guidance where needed Lead a culture to create and maintain a constructive atmosphere within the team, engaging and motivating direct reports to always give their best, while respecting any areas of diversity (whether areas of expertise, cultural, gender, age, background, etc.) Ensure direct reports adhere to set business policies and procedures, emphasising the importance of general discipline at work and objectively correcting and handling any deviations as they arise Resource and staff the team appropriately, considering the relevance of current and new jobs as well as the most suitable ways in which to place or replace any vacancies Set the example to the team and deliver on the employee value proposition by leading the team and the business in line with the Avis leadership behaviours Support and encourage direct reports to drive their own individual development plans in order to further grow as professionals in their jobs. Academic Qualifications NQF Level 7 Qualification in Financial/Business Management/ Operations/Sales and Marketing or similar Valid driver’s License Note Note: This role may be required to travel from time to time. This role may be required to work overtime/after hours from time to time. Work Experience 5 Years’ Leadership Level – experience in managing teams 5 Years’ Experience in B2B and B2C Sales and Operations 3 Years’ Car Rental/Leasing sales and operational experience. Advantageous 2 Years’ Finance and Insurance Experience 2 Years’ Motor Industry Experience: Vehicle Sales, Product, Pricing, Market and Residual Values.
